My son cooked these chicken fillets the other day on my big cast iron griddle, they were delicious. Wish I took pics of them on the griddle. He has really turned into a great cook. The sauce he used and the way he blackened them was incredible.

You will need some 1//8 sheet metal for skirting etc if you want pretty.

Mine was 18x36 with 2 burners. A POS "liberated" it from us one night at a cook off in Brady. It had our team name welded on the back splash. Dinky Dau Bar & Grill.

so what is the burner?

It is the 2 pipes where the flames come come out to heat the heat exchanger of gas heating units. You can nuy round ones like in fryers, but these 2 longer pipes work better for evenly heating the 1/4 plate griddle.

Buy the Blackstone. Griddles are a nice addition to your outdoor cooking capabilities.

Not as long as you keep them oiled. Oiled & covered is best.

I am in the middle of an outdoor kitchen project and ended up buying a griddle made to replace grill grates on the grill. Best of both worlds, I hope.

I bought a little portable 17" x 17" propane griddle last year for $80. to use for a particular event. Turned out that it has more room than I thought, so I still use it a lot connected to a regular BBQ size tank.

This is 4-1/2 lbs. of onions and 2-1/2 lbs. of mushrooms. More room is better of course, but this little thing works great for me.

A disc aka cowboy cooker is more versatile and doesn’t take up as much room. They definitely have their place. You’re going to have to build an addition with all these specialized cooking things wink

Yep. Follow directions for 1st time cleaning and seasoning. Don't skimp on the time or temp to turn the whole griddle black. Do that right and keeping it cleaned and seasoned is much easier. I found that a 6" SS putty knife is a great tool for the blackstone.

I just bought a 36 inch Blackstone with the hood and 4 burners but need to convert to natural gas before I use it. Shop around for all accessories because you can find them cheaper at Walmart. I just saved $25 on the conversion kit.

We have the small Blackstone and a small grill. Went through several cookers before settling on these for travel trailer use.

I have one of the bigger ones and it’s generally more than I need. It does do everything though, breakfast to dinner.

I prefer my steaks on charcoal. [Linked Image]

That will never happen. My grill is reserved for steaks, chicken, and chops. However, I HATE cooking burgers on it and want to try these new fancy smash burgers, and the wife wants fried rice.

Sous vide steaks then onto the blackstone for a quick sear

My infrared burner will sear at 1500 degrees. I like my steaks very rare, like black ‘n blue rare, so the method you mention isn’t for me. I’ll go from fridge to sear burner to plate in under 2 minutes

The Blackstone is nice but I went with the 4 burner Members Mark. I like it better because the grease drain is in the front instead of the back. Makes it easier to control IMHO
