Surgery went well, said the surgeon. Got the 3 or 4 day pain block, so no pain at so far. He reattached the supraspinatus ( sp) and 2 or 3 more that were damaged. Boy howdy, when I screw up a shoulder, I do it to the max. Got it done at the Sports Medicine place on University in Bryan. Super nice people.

Down to one hand for a while. Been here before, but this time the useable arm is the right, so shaving won’t be frightening this time.

Open to suggestions about what might speed the healing. Beer? Nachos?

6 weeks in a restrictive sling. What fun….

Whew,,,

Shoulders can be tough. At least no joint replacement.

High dose vitamins help tissue to heal faster.

Do the rehab right. Take pain meds just prior to doing rehab.

Ice ice!! I had the same thing a couple years ago. Able to get out of the sling at 4 weeks. Be religious to the therapy. My shoulder feels great now, but I had the surgery within 6 weeks of the injury so that helped speed things along. Good
Luck.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

The left hand is still there, but the thumb is pretty numb from the pain block in the shoulder. I can’t trust it to hold anything as precious as good Irish Whiskey.

I am bored. Doing nothing is awful. Maybe I’ll just comment on other threads and things I know nothing about. Naaaah!

Its been a year since I went through my "shoulder job". I dont like remembering it. I know you have been through this before so I dont have advice that you dont already know. Glad it went well and hang in there through the recovery.

Glad you're back among the conscious. I'll probably have to have shoulder surgery someday, but I'm trying to avoid it.

Start as many controversial threads as possible. That'll help the time pass. A high fence around a multi-thousand acre pasture is still a "pen" happens to be one of my personal favorites. grin

Be well. up

We high fenced the wife’s garden. Didn’t do much for the ‘rack’.

But the critters don’t eat up the garden now.

Creekrunner, thus far the surgery has been Ok, which is way better than a similar surgery on the right side in the 1990’s. I was thinking of that surgery when I was dreading this one. The worst part so far is dealing with 6 weeks in a sling. And then there will be rehab, which was God Awful Bad in the 90’s. The sling allows more movement of the shoulder than the strap-down, with zero movement in the 90’s, so maybe this won’t be so bad in rehab. You guys will surely hear about, good or bad.

Even my surgeon has had the shoulder job. Like me, he said there comes a time when you just have do something. He said that not being able to sleep was his deciding factor. It was like that for me in the 90’s, and this time I hadn’t had a good nights sleep for two month, and that was before I recently wrecked it.

And the high fence is a pen. Who can’t see the obvious. If the landowner himself couldn’t leave the fenced in area, isn’t he penned in?

Green chile to speed the recovery. Well, it can't hurt and you'll feel better about life in general. I think it's almost harvest time come to think about it.

Have had the normal shoulder thing done on both shoulders, now the good ol VA Dr's are talking about reattachment procedures on my left shoulder (Lots of pain in my bicep area") my concern is , I have no realistic use of my right arm as I have no hand there, have appliances however not using them as I get older. Why cant I , as I do otherwise, just let Amazon droip me a new one ?

cheers Glad the surgery went well. I've had both shoulders done, right -4 dislocations in college playing sports, left - dislocated and and broke 1/3 of the socket off slipping on a boat (not even drunk). PT is the key, as you already know. Good luck.
