Aren’t many holidays when you have your own business and also ranch. I wouldn’t trade. God Bless America and thank you Lord for this land you allow me to take care of and the blessings that come from it.

Looks like it raked up pretty good. Is your yield what you usually get? I wasn't able to get on my pasture to fertilize. Cool nights will have my yield down. Even with all the rain the growth hasn't been good.

You got that right, owning several businesses and land as well means you have absolutely no free time. I had time to eat some burgers with the family yesterday afternoon but other than that it’s been 15 hour days.. Some days I wonder if it’s all worth it or not but I keep telling myself it is hammer

It’s all perspective. I grew up on a farm in TN. Now I live in a subdivision where I can hear my neighbors dog bark when it’s inside. I hate it, my wife doesn’t want to move out of the city so I’m stuck dreaming of a 15 hr day bailing hay and you’re wondering if it’s worth it.

Nice looking pasture. Working your land and seeing the results of your effort is very rewarding. Appreciate your positive perspective.

Been hit and miss to be honest. Rain delayed first cutting and fields that were not sprayed saw the weeds start to come on. On the fields that were fertilized and sprayed I have seen less yield. This field today ran 3 of my big 5x5 bales per acre, last year I got 4.

Great looking bales GUTIT!
Which JD baler is that and what size NH are you running there?

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Thank you Sir. That rig is a JD 566 pulled behind a 2019 T4.110 HP New Holland.

Rolled 31 rolls off my 10 acres a couple weeks ago. Still rocking an old JD 530 round baler behind a 966 international. Got fertilizer out early, but with all the rain, could not cut til later in June. Normally on second crop by the time I made first cutting. Rye grass I put out last fall was already dry and shelled, so not near as good of hay as I would have liked. Fertizer hurt this year, up 35%. ThAnks sleepy Joe and camel toe……..

Damn good baler and tractor.
I have an old JD 535 that rolls a damn tight bale and probably has had 100k bales run through it. Bought it couple years ago from a friend that custom bales....he bought it used and had it 15+ years and ran at least 4k bales a year through it.
I screwed up in 2012 and didn't get a cab on my machine and likely will trade up in the next couple years. I like my 8560 mahindra a lot but should have spent the extra $6k on the cab but at the time didn't think I'd be rolling up my hay and some neighbors. Really looking hard at the NHs or Case machines and going up to about 100hp from the 85 although the Mahindra doesn't squawk a bit with any chore i put it to. Damn good machine for sure.

Had that bale behind, just in case.👍

Fertilizer prices are a beating CM

I have a 4020 JD and decided to bite it and get a cab tractor. Looked at JD hard but the price increase on same specs was too much for me. And my Dad worked for JD for 28 years. But, I would not own a baler that wasn’t JD. They are just too damn reliable. I run this baler compaction gauge right where the green meets the red and man are they tight.
