Ordered a kit on-line the frame, door and included chicken wire helped but I did it my way. Ordered a doubled knotted 25x50' net which I only used half of it, smallest I could find.
Anyway after adding end support, 2 center supports, pipe insulation, 20" stakes at each pole location to anchor down, 12" of chicken wire under the outside of the bottom rail to keep vermin from digging in and 19" of tin to cover the botton sides its mine. Moved 26 Bobwhite quail today to new living quarters.
Hope to start a new venture this fall with my birds.

Very nice. You think rat snakes will get through the netting?

I hope the tin will keep them out. Netting is 1" squares I'll be checking every day for critters.

Pen size is 10x20' not the biggest but it's a start. I have 100 week old birds coming next week but it will be a few weeks before they go to this pen.

It is my guess that more will try something similar with the lack of wild birds.

Good luck with raccoons. They will rip open most nets. Also, you will have rats--they are really hard to stop, but if you have no chicks, not a great problem. Add the metal barrier to the door. Racoons will reach thru mesh they can't break and grab birds pull them thru or bite their heads off.

I don't put young birds in this flight pen. Thanks for the advice on the Coons I'll be watching for them. I have plenty of Duke traps for them and run game cameras on the pen. Yes anywhere there is feed or grain the rats show up. If it is a problem ill be putting out Just One Bite for them to enjoy.

Hmmmm, I learned that lesson the hard way. Killed one on the back patio. Took about a year for the smell to go away. Now I’ve a got a snare set on the other side of the house. There’s another one that keeps digging a hole in between some bushes by the driveway.

Snakes can get in---they don't need much of an opening at all. They usually don't do a lot of damage, unless birds are laying--usually they will only eat one bird. Coons and possums will kill everything they can. Worst problem I ever had was bees---they killed evry bird in the pen in about an hour.

bees were nesting nearby. and apparently swamed as the day warmed up. Came into pen found 1/3 of the birds dead w/o a mark on them. Cleaned up and returned an hour later and all the birds were dead--realezed that is was bees when the started to buzz around me.
