Anyone use external 12V hookups with their deer cams? I just picked up a couple at a garage sale and haven't tried them out yet. Any pros/cons?

I use external 12V batteries w/solar panels on my cameras, what a game changer! We have a pretty high deer density so I tend to get tons of pics and video. Got really expensive buying those energized lithium batteries, so I made the swap!

These are similar, but do not have the solar panel.

Maybe I should invest in adding the solar panel to them. I assume just the box with no solar panel will still last longer than AA batteries, but not sure yet.

Battery will go pretty quick without solar panel if taking a lot of pics.

agreed with MoTex. I run cams all year round with the HME solar panel box without changing the battery.
