We recently bought land about 5 miles south of Windthorst and just curious what others have to say about hunting around there?

I hunt in that area just across 281 from Antelope to the southwest. It has pretty good deer numbers but we don't see a lot of wall hangers. We generally see a lot of hogs. Turkeys are up and down.

I own land about 7 miles from Windthorst. Lots of deer, even more pigs. We have been feeding protein for 3 years now and are on year 4 of food plots. Size and health of deer have improved drastically. All we have killed off the place the past 4 years are cull bucks. Trash bucks and spikes. Richard the game warden is a good guy. You will want his phone number. I have had to call them twice. They were super professional both times.

Awesome.
Yeah we will be planting food plots and feeding corn and protein year round so hopefully we can grow some nice deer.

I own land South of there. The 4 year drought hit the area hard. Other than pigs, the numbers haven’t rebounded.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

As others have said - plenty of pigs, healthy deer population, antler quality can be hit or miss. I'm probably hunting not too far from where you're at.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.
