If there is a rock crusher near by they will have a rock drill that will go from 6"-10" diameter and as deep as you want. You may be able to talk them into doing it between shots if they have time. It wont be cheap, but will be quick.

I build fences in the winter for fun money. I just finished a job where solid limestone 6 to 9 inches under top soil. I tried to k bits with skid steer, wouldn't touch it. I finally used 3/4" hammer drill and drilled 8 holes barely larger than post. Then take rock bar and break out rock, repeat as required. I went about a foot into the rock, set post with concrete. Not fun!

We’re 3 days in with a belltech on an 80 horse tractor and a skidsteer, both 9” rock bits. Ate through 2 sets of teeth so far

The rock bits have actual carbide teeth?
What I use.
Knock um in and out as needed. [Linked Image]

Makes my little problem of not being able to get my tpost driven for my game camera....when you get this figured out good and your efficient, let me know and I'll let you set three tposts for me back off 765 wink

Good luck...we drilled 2 holes in camp for new crappers with the skid steer auger with the carbide rock cutters a couple weeks ago. I was impressed by it's abilities...you have a mess if that won't go through it.

So again (because it sounds like you're going to need it) good luck!

Little update. I got my hands on what belltec called a blue devil bit. It’s got 10 carbide teeth, more like a saw blade tooth than the typical bullet teeth glens posted. It’s taking about 40 minutes per hole but it’s gettin it

You may try these guys in Missouri. They have a vibratory auger attachment for a skid steer. They build heavy duty stuff and from what I heard they were the only ones that had augers that could drill the rock on the wall of the southern border.

For someone in the fence building business, it may be worth it.

I have a rig mounted on rubber tracked machine that will drill through anything and go 20’ deep if you want. Holes are only 3-5/8” though. I can drill a 10’ hole in solid rock in maybe ten minutes? It has a down hole hammer powered by a 210 CFM compressor. In softer rock like sandstone I can punch through with an auger.

I hope you got paid by the hour eek2

When you’re done take that over to the West 2 and drill me three holes for my camera and pen. David and I pretzeled a tpost with a skid steer trying to get thru that rock.
