For whoever is looking for a capable truck with mileage, the 2021 6.7 liter power strokes are world better on fuel economy vs. the older 6 speeds.
With 35’s and 3:55 rear end im seeing 18.7-19.3 mpg driving 75-80 mph. My previous truck was getting 14-15 mpg with 35’s and 12-14 mpg with 37’s.
Stop messing my direction up. I'd just about talked my self in to a Tavspec tundra stage three build with Turbo charger. You just need to buy an AEV Ram with Carli suspension Id go F250 with carli first. You can get more travel with the Ford. I think the tavspec tundra is 13-14” though. I just can't get over mini me bed Get a TRX. From the factory with 12" of ground clearance and 14" of travel. Pair it with a 3.7 0-60 and it's smiles regardless of terrain Just don't plan on it being your daily, heavy duty tow rig

Maybe I'm wrong but the TRX looks like it has a bed that will fit a yeti ice chest, a duffle bag and thats about it. Saw one yesterday and the bed looked very small

My buddy paid $97k for his but I don’t know which version his is

Launch editions are all sold out. Lots of dealers around big cities want to charge on top of sticker (ADM). Just ignore those guys and keep looking. You can easily find one at sticker and if you try hard enough somewhere below sticker. Bed is 5'7" which is short compared to my 6'6" on my 2500, but I'll make it work.
If you get one, make sure you at least get the Level 1 package to get rid of the awful interior. Happy to help folks if you're looking for one, I've got lots of lessons learned from my hunt. Also can get MaxCare warranties for any ram at $100 over cost if you're in the market. I know most don't get a warranty and that's ok, but I wasn't going to not get one on this truck (picked up the $200 deductible 8 yr/125k mile)

I have considered going truck shopping, but with all these threads about prices, I’m not gonna bother even looking.

I've had two Toyota Tacomas that served as my work/play vehicle. Great performance, quiet, but gas mileage was not what you'd expect from a smaller sized truck. The other issue I found was the limited storage capacity...if I were to get another one I would definitely get the camper shell to maximize what you can take with you on a hunting road trip. Both trucks were 4x4 and had well over 100K miles and performed great on the resale (sold both direct, cash in days, no dealership hassles). Currently I have the Ford F150 2.7 ecoboost 4x4. I cannot say enough good things about it...basically it is a larger version of the Tacoma...but it gets the same gas mileage (average 19). I would go with the F150 2.7 ecoboost or 3.5 ecoboost (on the 3.5 you take a little hit on gas mileage buy beef up your towing capacity) over a Tacoma strictly because of the increased size and, in my opinion, very similar performance. The F150, for me, is a much more comfortable truck to drive on the highway for long trip...on top of that it has a huge back seat and much larger truck bed.

I lease my truck to the company for work. I shopped all makes and models before buying. I have always been a chevy man at heart, but objectively looked at all others before buying my latest. My criteria was, and still is, a traditional v8 engine without all the added moving parts of turbos, and the most basic transmission available.
So Ford was out since I could not find a 1/2ton truck without the egoboost crap. Dodge was out because they only offered 8spd transmissions (just too costly to repair). Yota was a real option but I refused to have a truck payment higher than my house payment. Nissan was out because they are gas gusslers. So I was right back to looking at Chevy. Got my 5.3 V8 engine, had to settle for the 6L80E trans, 2 more gears than I wanted.
Fast forward 150k miles later, so far I've replaced the battery, and the trans was replaced under warranty @97k, but the new trans has a 100k warranty with it. I figure if it pukes another trans even after the warranty expires, then I'll have made enough money off the truck to justify another replacement. And the replacement will be built to avoid the oem/gm reliability issues.
In my opinion, all modern pickups are junk. I still have my old '71 C10, and love it. How many of these new trucks do you think will be on the market in 50yrs? Not a single one of them, the manufacturers have seen to that.
