Domesticated dogs have certian behaviors bred into them. My guess is that if you get an orphaned coyote that he/she would have certain behaviors bred into him. I'm guessing that this wouldn't be a good idea.

Used to be a rodeo clown around Houston who had a couple of pet coyotes.

I had a friend in vet school at TAMU while I was there. She did research projects with coyotes and I asked her for a coyote pup. She said that would be a BIG mistake when it matured. She got a black lab for me I named Aubrey. Probably a good thing I never got that coyote pup.

There’s a young man in Idaho, pretty damn good dog trainer and coyote hunter, who had 2 at one point. Had one that he kept in the house, rode in his truck, and he even took her into stores with him on a leash. She seemed pretty docile. He always emphasized that she was in fact still very wild and he didn’t recommend anyone trying to domesticate one.
They’re were given to him by another hunter who shot the mother. He tried to release them but they were too domesticated at that point so he ended up keeping them.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
