It’s mesquite 30 years ago. With a more rapid decline. Traffic there is horrible. I mean awful. The south/old End of town is the better place to live from what I know.

BigPig is in Forney I believe. He should know the good, bad, and ugly of the city.

Yes, lots of people live in Forney.

I work there. The following is strictly my opinion.

Currently the infrastructure is well behind the population. There’s not enough cell service during peak times to do anything but talk and text. There’s probably 3x more people than there roads to carry them and very little space to improve upon this without bulldozing something. Property taxes are high compared to living east of Kaufman County. School districts within forney are being changed this coming school year so your kid may go to a different school than they did last year.

On a good note, house prices have flattened out in Forney with the desire to live there waning. Taxes aren’t going back down though. There is zero retail in forney and likely never will be since they let Buccees move on down the road to Terrell. Now Terrell has 50 ish new businesses built around Buccees with more under construction. This can be viewed as good or bad but those retail businesses support the city’s tax base to afford the infrastructure needed to support the population.

Stay away from Windmill Farms, as a teacher and a resident.

Everything above is accurate. As the Amazon warehouses and Goodyear DC get staffed and all the apartments fill up the decline will progress. We moved for the schools 5 years ago and it has “progressed” alot in that time. Really hard to find something solidly nice middle class on the edge of the metroplex that isn't headed this direction. They continue to outgrow the roads in a bad way and seem to be attracting the wrong type of developments.. I am glad we are on the outskirts. Like the other poster I would move, but to where?

Forney is packed. The school district is good though if she wants to be a teacher. If she plans on living in Forney, the south end sucks, the road design to get north of 80 to where all the shops and restaurants are is just plain stupid and that’s the best it will be, just wait until there’s a train, [censored] Stay away from Windmill Farms, as a teacher and a resident.
