Noticed cracks in 2 of my overhead door panels right in the middle yesterday door is 10'X10'.
Has been maintained and taken care of. It's just the wife and me so door is not worked hard and has not been run into. They are 25 years old. I added the foam sheets as insulation but have it on 3 other doors and it's not heavy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Make sure your house isn't in a beginning sinkhole.

No sinkhole, no foundation shift, no added weight.
Who's a door guy out there?
Thanks

I think it's mostly age and the wind pushing in and out over the years flexing. You might be able to just buy the panels instead of the panels and track assembly.Something to think about but it might be time to replace the whole door, track and panels. This is the guy I use if you want to give him a call and he is honest but it might be a little far for him but give him a shout and see.

I would screw a flat plate over the area to tie top and bottom together and keep on trucking. It doesn’t take much to make it rigid again.

Had that happen to us on a previous house. Added a second garage door strut as shown in the link.

This, get some aluminum flat plate or angle and use a pop rivet gun, with the flat sides of the rivets facing each other where the doors meet.

Looks like the door has been flexing for a while, those breaks don’t come from a one time event.

Are the panels in the picture the top 2 panels? If they are that is the weakest point of the door and ends up with the most "flex" in wind and operation due to the fact that in the closed position the bottom panels have the weight of the top which helps support/strengthen them in the closed position. BEFORE you start adding a bunch of reinforcing materials you need to understand that you are adding weight to the overall door and the springs wont counterbalance it well. Those 2 panels are pretty much shot and the more you try to reinforce them the more problems you will probably create.

The panels are the bottom 2. I have some 24"X1" aluminum angle iron pieces I'm going to span the cracks and screw/bolt on and see what happens.
Thanks

Go to your nearest garage door company and buy (2) 3” struts 10’ long and screw them to the stiles, then oil everything that moves and make sure door works well. Does it have a door opener?

Got them fixed up.
1"X24" aluminum angle iron screwed in behind cracks. Door is much quieter when it rolls.

I live 20 minutes east of Gunter and my neighbor owns a garage door company. Used him when I built and when my wife backed into the door. bang let me know if you’d like a contact.
