A clear conscience is often the sign of a fuzzy memory.

Excellent story. He seems as sharp as a tack. Definitely a true "Knight." Say what you will about the French, but they know true bravery. God bless these boys that saved the free world. Dad was a RO in a B24 in the South Pacific. He had similar feelings I believe, but was very tight-lipped about it. Thanks for posting!

The guys who flew heavies in the Eighth Air force in '43 and early '44 were real heroes who did what they had to do in the face of near certain death. Every single one of them deserves to be remembered.

Brave Souls for sure. America's Finest. My Dad and His brothers helped win The war in the Pacific against Japan. Dad in the Army and 2 other Brothers in Marines. The Battle of Saipan was His biggie. Lost a lot of Brave Guys there. My Grandparents both come over from Germany the right way as Citizens in the early 1900's. The Government wouldn't send them, my Dad and Uncles,to Germany, as they had a lot of Kinfolks fighting for The German side. They served Proud for the Good Ole USA.

When Daddy was presented with his, the embassy guy talked about some of what all he was a part of. Caught my brother and I completely off guard. He and I knew only a little. Then again, Daddy always told us bad dogs don't need to bark.
