A buddy and I planning a trip with our kids. Any recommendations for bodies of water and possibly a guide just to make sure the kiddos stay on some fish.. we live in Harlingen do only fish lower Laguna and the surf.

I'm a terrible fisherman, but aren't there stripers in Calaveras and/or Braunig lakes on the south side of San Antonio? (Out by my house, Fiesta Texas opens June 22nd. Your kids paid me to mention that. 'Might want to check out SeaWorld too. bolt ) grin

He has been at it for a long time. One of the best.

Agree with Lake Buchanan. Ken doesn't guide anymore but has a ton of guys that he outsources to. Most are good. Travis @ TH Fishing is the best. I'd go straight to him.

When I go visit my parents who live in SA and dad and I try to get some fishing in we go to calaveras and usually land a couple hybrid strippers. We use a homemade concoction of bran flakes and big red. Dad showed it to me don’t know where he got it but it works on those stripers. If you go to calaveras message me and I will show you some spots where Ive done good on reds and cats.

My grandfather used to fish lake Buchanan along with right below the dam. It's been MANY years ago, so not sure how the stripers are these days.
