Ahhh wants and needs, I would love to have the Miller, looked at a few but ended up going with a Hobart for less than half the money. It works well and the generator end of it came in real handy during the big freeze.

I think Miller and Hobart have common ownership.
I wouldnt doubt that. My Hobart welder came with miller leads.
I appreciate the recommendations. I ended up buying a Hobart Champion 145. Got a pretty good deal on it at a grand opening of a northern tool. I'm sure its not the best by any means, but it absolutely works for what I need. And I don't need a front end loader to put it in the back of my truck... although its nice to be able to use the chain hoist in the shop. I built a corner brace and hung a gate, but that's about when pipe shot through the roof for a little bit so I have put my fence building on hold till it comes down a little. I probably need to check some prices on it again. Fence will have panel and a bottom rail when I'm done, but for right now the deer have a trail worn through the gap where that brace is so I'm gonna let them be happy and not have to jump till i have stock on it.
heeeey, I think I gotta recommend you smth really cool to develop your skills:) Well, I remember time when I needed to weld a ladder, but my welder was awful, worn out and it was impossible to work with. I decided to buy a new instrument, surfed internet and understood, that at most sites instruments are overpriced, you literally have to break a bank to afford a new high quality welder:). Fortunately, i came across the cool guys who helped me to choose a welder that has become my favorite since I've started to learn welding. That is a Hobart Handler 140. That is a BEST WELDER EVER!
From what I have heard and read, the Vulcan ones from Harbor Freight are very good and are giving Miller a run for their money. Here is a link for a Stick Welder/Generator. You can weld and use a saw, grinder, fan or light if you need to work at night. Outlaw 195
Nice to know, but I'm a little leary about spending that much at Harbor Freight.
That's the same thing I told my friend that recommended it. He has over 40 years of welding experience and said it was very nice. Now that you said it, the one he used was a Mig, Tig, Stick electric one, not the generator type. I have a Miller 215 that I run off of a 6000 watt generator that takes care of everything in the field.
I find myself in the same situation as redchevy. Would you buy it again? Any other recommendations?
I have no complaints so far, I’ve done a few projects around my new place and my brothers. Haven’t put a ton of time welding on it but did burn several tanks of fuel through it during the big freeze. If I was looking again I would consider it again. I have nothing to complain about. I also considered the clutch brand I think tractor supply carries.
