I've replaced ALOT of tires with it. Never had one question asked. I'd never buy tires without it.

Absolutely. I have used it on all but one set of tires. It has paid for itself several times over. If you have 20"+ rims, you will have more flats and more screws/nails. And with the higher cost of those tires, it's worth it. If you are getting a cheap set and low end tire, maybe not. I don't know what it was with my old set of 20" rims, but they picked up more screws and nails than any other tires I had.

I think it's worth the money, a brand new tire if one is unfixable for pennies on the dollar is a pretty easy decision.

This. I've had multiple sets where they replaced as many as 3 outta 4. Never looked at me funny, never asked a question even when it was obviously off-road damage. I'll never turn it down if it's offered.

What do you guys do to tires????? I've never gotten it. Discount gives you the pro-rated warranty for free. So if's a 50K tire and you destroy it at 25K, you get a new one at half price.

I've bought over a dozen sets of tires of them and think I've only had one tire that wasn't repairable. If I was buying road hazard for every set I would have lost my arse.

To be fair, I'm hard on tires, my wife, not so much.

I get it. I’ve used it a lot. The #1 thing I use it for is the free lifetime balance. Drastically extends the life of the tire rotating & balancing every 5,000 miles.

Yes it is definitely worth it.

Just last month, just out side Denver on my way back home, got a flat, big metal object in my tire. Got my spare put on, and my first thought was to risk it and wait till I get back to Dallas where I can use the insurance and get a new tire. Then I thought, hey wait a sec, maybe they have discount tire in Colorado. Get on my iPhone, google search discount tire, boom I got discount tire shops all around me! Took to nearest shop, like 5 minutes away, they did not have my tire in stock, and they quit making them. My tires were not end of life, but they were close, so what the heck, got all new tires, and of course one was free, and they even knocked more off to help me out because they knew my tires were not end of life yet.

So what you will find, normally when your tire gets damaged, there is a good chance that is a great time to get all new tires with 25% off because one tire is free, and they will probably knock more off. There is nothing better than all new tires!!

I get it on all my tires. I even added it to the tires when I bought a new SUV. It's paid for itself on each set because I usually end up replacing at least one or two tires per set (we always seem to get sidewall punctures).

Thanks,
Rich

Get it. I've had it for years and used it at least twice. Each time, new tire, balance and mount. Didn't cost a thing. Great service!

You're not very hard on tires if you've only had one that wasn't repairable. I'm good for a sidewall punch at least once per year.

Funny how many get this compared to an extended warranty...I view them the same and generally speaking have come out WAY ahead not buying either. It's an insurance....you know there rarely are insurance companies that go broke.

So no, I don't get them.

Discount Tire would not offer if they were not making money on the deal, I’ve heard the mark up in tires is extreme so it may be a deal where both sides can win because they are making 2x cost on the initial sale.

Never get insurance and never really needed it. The money I would have spent would have been a huge waste.
For example Discount tire wanted $2,100 for my tires 35/12.50/20’s thats with no road hazard warranty, I paid $1,400 at my local tire shop for the same exact tire, overpriced but they are nice and smile when they take your money.

And I’m in and out in a matter of minutes when I need something done at the local shop.

Mine was included when I bought my tires for my truck. Hadn't needed it so far, but it's nice to know it's there.

Tire markup is around 30-35% and add the warranty that say on the low side 75% of people never use it’s a huge money maker. I usually buy it on trailer tires but that’s about it.

Discount is a solid company. I used to get it but last two sets I haven’t. I didn’t realize they charge for rotation and balance. Last couple times I went in they didn’t charge me and I didn’t have the warranty. Makes sense if you do though $70 ain’t pocket change over the life of a 50k-60k mile tire!

Used it a few weeks ago for my wife's car and will be using it again tomorrow. She apparently thinks it's a sport to hit pot holes and low profile tires don't handle that well.

Don’t buy it anymore, since I started running Toyo AT. When I ran Goodyear Dura Trac I bought it and used it for at least 2 tires per set.

Got it on the wife’s car. Good thing I did. 3 days after putting that brand new set on, she got a puncture right in the corner of the tread. Not fixable.

I went in the air pressure check line with my truck. My rear outer was flat and they said if I had some time to spare they would fix it at NO CHARGE. Seriously? That was awesome and they earned my business for that courtesy.

Those any better than the E rated 10 ply Nitto terra grapplers with 65k warranty. Man those things last! About to put new shoes on the truck and I like the Toyo AT3’s

I cut through an abandoned store parking lot once and three of four tires went flat. Discount tires replaced all 4 so I would have a matching set.

I will not buy tires anywhere else.

Know people who swear by it. I don’t believe in it never paid for it never regretted it or had an instance I would have used it. I find that most places with road hazard just replace a tire for almost anything. I have a plug kit and a compressor. I’ve never had a blowout on a vehicle tire.

I’m over here in shock that this many people go to a place with such terrible customer service.

It’s like walking around Walmart asking some belligerent employee a question and get half an answer compared to walking into a normal grocery store and the employees smile and randomly ask you if they can help you with anything. You stick around the poor service long enough it seems normal.

Problem with discount is it’s best CS ever or worst..no in between.

Ordered set of tire for wife’s suburban, and I was about to call Regional manager and tell him to promote the kid. Best experience ever, then Monday I dropped a UTV tire off to get mounted And they forgot or lost my info to tell me it was ready..

Sure you didn't buy the rotation & balance for the life of the tires during purchase?

Or is that something they started offering for free?

I've taken new vehicles there within a few days of driving off the lot to purchase the rotation, balancing and road hazard. When I was often out of town and wife/daughter had a tire issue or needed rotation, I could count on DT to treat them fairly and honestly.

Yes, rotating is done for free no matter where you bought the tires. Balancing is not done for free, it’s $70. Also, with the road hazard I get free patches instead of free plugs. They will also take my tires off the rim, flip them and reinstall when I request them, which is usually about 30,000 miles. That’s normally $40 a tire.

You don’t keep a vehicle long enough to justify the expense. Do you have insurance on your vehicles? If so, why?

Yep rotate and balance will cost you $70 at DT.

Had my wife's factory tires rotated at DT yesterday for free. confused2

You run over more [censored] on the highway than anyone I know. If I was discount I would tell you to pound sand....

In my younger, financially leaner days I didn't get the road hazard to save money on tires. After a couple of incidents replacing one tire that was more than the road hazard for all four I decided to start getting it on my trucks and have ever since.

It more than paid for itself when i used to take my personal truck all over the state for work, and to the deer lease in Ballinger. Now, 95% of my travel is in a company truck and we no longer hunt out west. My regular travel doesn't take me near a discount tire anymore, and my local tire shop does free flat repair and lifetime rotate and balance. So long story short, i don't do Discount anymore just because it is not convenient but if you are near them regularly, it may be worth it.

Unless something has changed, it's far better than others who only give you a pro-rated amount if the tire needs replacement. At Discount, you get a free tire if ANY useful tread is left on the tire that cannot be fixed.

Stay far away from Firestone. They offered me just $10 on the last tire I took them that needed replacement.

I do have insurance on my vehicles...it's weird but it seems to be much easier for me to spend a couple hundred to replace a tire than it is 20k+ to replace a truck/Jeep wink

At my Discount you get lifetime rotation/balance/flat repair for free when you buy the tires, as well as the prorated road hazard. I would have assumed that was everywhere but who knows.

The upsell is the no questions asked road hazard with the full replacement. I haven't priced it in a while but it used to be the equivalent of buying a 5th tire. So you would have to destroy 2 of your 4 tires before it actually works out better for you, and that's not taking into account the prorated road hazard coverage that you could be using.

As with any extended warranty, the overall margins are enormous for the company. Most that pay for it never use it.

You mean the cost is included in the price of the tires.

If you mainly just drive to grocery store and back like Judd I would agree you don't need it. I did damage 2 tires on my last set. And looking at my receipt, my tire cost was $178 each and 100% road hazard was $25, $100 for 4 tires.

I’ve only ever hit the 2nd example of DT service

Years ago I punched a sidewall on a tire I had no road-hazard on. I was charged full price to replace it because it wasn't a failure of the tire/warranty issue. I was not aware of any company covering non-tire failure/damage that resulted in replacement. If that is truly the case I may need to change my mind, but so far I'm winning.

I have ruined 11 tires that Discount replaced for ~$30 each due to road hazard. Those tires average ~$225 each.

My cost, 44 tires at $30 for RH + 11 replacements @ $30 = $1650.
Without RH, 11 at $225 = $2475.

I'm ahead over $800.

Even if you are not ahead, it is nice for a little peace of mind knowing you have it. The last time I did not get it, probably about 15 years ago, I just got new tires, like $1000, and a week into it I punctured the side of the tires. I just spent $1,000, now I had to cough up another $250, I was really pissed. The guy at DT let me buy the RH and use it on the tire I just damaged, that made my day, and told him I will never not buy it again.

Mine was $200 for all four tires and one tire was $350 to replace.

I already posted that Discount Tire is the only tire distributor that I will use. The following is the reason why. I apologize for a long post but please bear with me.

Back in the late '80s I was a shift supervisor at a plant in LaPorte, TX. I was on day shift. One of my operators was seriously injured in an incident at the plant. EMS responded. I was a paramedic chief of EMS where I lived. Working with EMS I determined my operator's injuries required immediate medical evac by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital Houston. After he was medivacced another operator and I drove to his residence to inform his wife and two sons of the incident and drove with them following us to Hermann Hospital. When we arrived he was already in surgery. When he was out of surgery and in recovery, I rented her family rooms at a Medical Center hotel. We went to escort her to her home in Pasadena to get what they needed to stay in Houston. I saw that her tires had steel cord showing. My operator took her home in my vehicle amd I drove her vehicle to the Discount Tire on Spencer highway in Pasadena. All the bays were full and the lot was full. I went into the store and spoke with the manager and explained the issue. I bought her a set of tires on my corporate card. The manager himself brought out jacks and mounted and balanced the tires himself in the parking lot in front of the store.

I will never buy tires anywhere else than Discount Tire. I am sure some have not had a good experience. Every time I go to Discount Tire for new tores or rotation, or a flat I am reminded of their compassion and committment to service. I will never forget.

My operator died from his injuroes two days later. I was one of his pall beareres. I buried two of my operators during my career. The injured one and one that died from cancer. Some things in life make an indelible impression on us. My discount Tire experience was one of them.

I was transferred to California in 1993. I went to Discount Tire for rotation before I drove to California and expressed my concern that I was not going to have them to rely on. The manager told me that they were in California but were called America's Tire Co. Same great service, different name.

Thanks for listening.

Driving home from the hospital yesterday late afternoon and about 3 miles from home the tire sensor alarm went off saying a back tire had just dropped to 23lbs. Saw in my side mirror the tire appeared to be still up so I proceeded home. Found a giant nail bent over between the lugs. Drove the 1 1/5 miles to Discount Tire where they were super busy but still got my tire patched in about 45 minutes with no charge. My tire was almost as big as the guy fixing it. Top notch business in my book.
