Bought my last set at Tire Rack, delivered to my driveway, FREE road hazard.
Took them to the local tire shop, mounted in 30 minutes.

goodbye Discount

The upsell is the no questions asked road hazard with the full replacement. I haven't priced it in a while but it used to be the equivalent of buying a 5th tire. So you would have to destroy 2 of your 4 tires before it actually works out better for you, and that's not taking into account the prorated road hazard coverage that you could be using.

As with any extended warranty, the overall margins are enormous for the company. Most that pay for it never use it.

If you mainly just drive to grocery store and back like Judd I would agree you don't need it. I did damage 2 tires on my last set. And looking at my receipt, my tire cost was $178 each and 100% road hazard was $25, $100 for 4 tires.

Problem with discount is it’s best CS ever or worst..no in between.

Ordered set of tire for wife’s suburban, and I was about to call Regional manager and tell him to promote the kid. Best experience ever, then Monday I dropped a UTV tire off to get mounted And they forgot or lost my info to tell me it was ready..

I’ve only ever hit the 2nd example of DT service

Heck, that seems to be the case wherever you go these days.

Years ago I punched a sidewall on a tire I had no road-hazard on. I was charged full price to replace it because it wasn't a failure of the tire/warranty issue. I was not aware of any company covering non-tire failure/damage that resulted in replacement. If that is truly the case I may need to change my mind, but so far I'm winning.

I have ruined 11 tires that Discount replaced for ~$30 each due to road hazard. Those tires average ~$225 each.

My cost, 44 tires at $30 for RH + 11 replacements @ $30 = $1650.
Without RH, 11 at $225 = $2475.

I'm ahead over $800.

Even if you are not ahead, it is nice for a little peace of mind knowing you have it. The last time I did not get it, probably about 15 years ago, I just got new tires, like $1000, and a week into it I punctured the side of the tires. I just spent $1,000, now I had to cough up another $250, I was really pissed. The guy at DT let me buy the RH and use it on the tire I just damaged, that made my day, and told him I will never not buy it again.

Mine was $200 for all four tires and one tire was $350 to replace.

I already posted that Discount Tire is the only tire distributor that I will use. The following is the reason why. I apologize for a long post but please bear with me.

Back in the late '80s I was a shift supervisor at a plant in LaPorte, TX. I was on day shift. One of my operators was seriously injured in an incident at the plant. EMS responded. I was a paramedic chief of EMS where I lived. Working with EMS I determined my operator's injuries required immediate medical evac by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital Houston. After he was medivacced another operator and I drove to his residence to inform his wife and two sons of the incident and drove with them following us to Hermann Hospital. When we arrived he was already in surgery. When he was out of surgery and in recovery, I rented her family rooms at a Medical Center hotel. We went to escort her to her home in Pasadena to get what they needed to stay in Houston. I saw that her tires had steel cord showing. My operator took her home in my vehicle amd I drove her vehicle to the Discount Tire on Spencer highway in Pasadena. All the bays were full and the lot was full. I went into the store and spoke with the manager and explained the issue. I bought her a set of tires on my corporate card. The manager himself brought out jacks and mounted and balanced the tires himself in the parking lot in front of the store.

I will never buy tires anywhere else than Discount Tire. I am sure some have not had a good experience. Every time I go to Discount Tire for new tores or rotation, or a flat I am reminded of their compassion and committment to service. I will never forget.

My operator died from his injuroes two days later. I was one of his pall beareres. I buried two of my operators during my career. The injured one and one that died from cancer. Some things in life make an indelible impression on us. My discount Tire experience was one of them.

I was transferred to California in 1993. I went to Discount Tire for rotation before I drove to California and expressed my concern that I was not going to have them to rely on. The manager told me that they were in California but were called America's Tire Co. Same great service, different name.

Thanks for listening.

Driving home from the hospital yesterday late afternoon and about 3 miles from home the tire sensor alarm went off saying a back tire had just dropped to 23lbs. Saw in my side mirror the tire appeared to be still up so I proceeded home. Found a giant nail bent over between the lugs. Drove the 1 1/5 miles to Discount Tire where they were super busy but still got my tire patched in about 45 minutes with no charge. My tire was almost as big as the guy fixing it. Top notch business in my book.
