I just acquired a FNX-45. Probably will not carry for self defense or home defense even though it has 15 rounds of .45 due to the decocker. The decocker in the moment of stress can easily be activated when clicking the safety off with my thumb. Seems like not a great design. I understand you can have the firearm in DA, but the trigger pull is too long, IMO.

Anyone else have or have experience with the FNX-45. Your opinions are warranted.

Btw home defense is XDM 10mm with 16 rounds.

I have shot very few guns with decockers. I don't like them either. I'd bet if that's what you carried and trained with, that is what you'd be comfortable with. Personally, I like 1911s. So I stick with guns with 1911 style controls. 1911, hi power, p938, p365, etc. I'm also comfortable with striker fired guns with no external safety. But I just don't like decocker.

I have the FNX-45 Tactical. I don't carry it as it's too big for CCW. Now, if the poop ever hit the fan, I wouldn't mind having it on my hip at all though my 1911 is still significantly lighter - the FNX does have 100% more firepower (not to mention a suppressor host, red dot and light rail - none of which are on my 1911).

If I carried it it would be decocked - but I train with firing the first round double action and to me the trigger pull isn't bad - a long trigger pull for sure but I've owned and shot many DA/SA revolvers and pistols over the years so it's no big deal. They are what I cut my teeth on as I grew up in the age of S&W 3rd generations pistols and revolvers and subsequently became a big SIG fan. Then I found the 1911...sort of back wards from most people.

I don't have one but I;ve shot a bunch as my friend loves the fnx-5 tactical. Quite frankly, i really like this thing too. Yea it's a huge handgun but overall I think it shoot very well.
I'm sorry to hear you're not a fond of yours.

Fair enough. I didn't find the de-cocker to be a problem. In fact I have a fnx 9mm, the really cheap one, and the decocking lever on the opposite side fell off. I'm right handed so it doesn't matter but now that I think about it maybe the 45 tactical is just made better too.

To each of his own. I have two friends who both own the FNX-45. One likes it. The other does not. He complains about the grip does not feel right in his hand.
