They would still have plenty of customers who want CHL’s for travel. Private business will still be able to post 30-06 notices requiring CHL’s for those entering their property with a firearm.

X2 I wouldn’t give mine up. If they did away with LTC it would hurt some of us that travel to a bunch t states that only recognize reciprocity of LTC issued from state of residence only.

So, will this allow visitors from out-of-state carry without a permit? I'm thinking that if so, and if the other states' statutes do as well, that's in and of itself a form of reciprocity.

From the Texas State Rifle Association TSRA TESTIMONYGreetings! House Bill 1927 by Representative Matt Schaefer was sponsored in the Senate hearing yesterday by Chairman Charles Schwertner. The hearing was nearly 11 hours long, by my watch, and in the end, the bill passed out of committee unamended. I expect we will see amendments proposed when and if it gets to the floor. My testimony is above if you care to see it. Now the real work begins! We need 18 Senators to simply bring the bill to the floor for discussion. It isn't important which party they are- but we need those votes just to get it there. For us, this is a purple issue, as is the rest of the Constitution. Then we need 16 Senators to vote for the bill. Please call AND email your Senator and let them know you are in full support of this bill and that you would like their support on it as well! You can use the "Who Represents Me " button at the bottom of this email to find out who is your Senator is, if you don't know. If you know they are in support I need you to thank them--those are always great calls to make and they are glad to get them. If you have called before but not emailed, go ahead and do that. If you emailed but didn't call, please do that. *If* you called before and they were non-committal, there is no harm in politely asking if they have clarified their position, yet- now that the bill is out of committee. THEN, I need you to call Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick's office and share with him your support for this bill. (512) 463-0001 is the number to call. Also, you can send your written comments at this link https://www.ltgov.texas.gov/contact/contact-general/Our Senate needs to know that you care about this issue and you are watching. Be polite of course, but absolutely pick up the phone and follow up with an email. In order to get this bill to the floor, I need all of our supporters to do this as soon as you can. If you would care to see my testimony on the bill from yesterday, here it is. Hit reply if you want to get involved and need help. Thank you!!!!!! -------------- Andi Turner Legislative Director TSRA

All those firearms instructors that are in opposition are only whining because it's going to hit them in the pocket book. If they had any sense they would realize how much more income to be made from everyone wanting a place to shoot instead of a few. Selfish hypocrites. If those traitors were to offer classes in defense shooting, and even exclusive classes for women to learn defensive shooting, they would make much more $$ than they do offering CHL classes, once this passes. Idiots.

More states advance permitless carry bills. Already in 2020, four states have passed laws allowing gun owners to carry firearms in public without a permit. Now that number looks set to increase. In Louisiana, a permitless carry proposal advanced through the Senate and passed a House committee on Wednesday. In Alabama, a House committee approved permitless carry legislation. And on Thursday in Texas, where permitless carry has already passed the House, a Senate committee heard from more than 100 people who testified for and against the bill. “I don't have a problem with people having guns,” said one firearms instructor who testified against the bill. “I just need to have them trained and educated. So I asked you to not fix what's not broken.” After 10 hours of testimony, the committee passed the bill. Republican Governor Greg Abbott recently said he plans to sign it if it reaches his desk. That firearms instructor is just looking out for himself and his wallet. He needs to shut his mouth. The 2nd Amendment says nothing about going to the range and having a guy dressed in the latest shooting fashions train you. Bingo. You nailed it Choctaw.

Legislation to allow permitless carrying of handguns appears headed toward the floor of the Texas Senate next week, and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says he is "optimistic" about its chances of passing even though he is still rounding up the votes.

"We're gonna come out with a strong bill, and I'll believe we'll pass it because we brought people together," Patrick told conservative radio host Dana Loesch on Thursday afternoon. "And hopefully it'll be on the governor's desk soon, and we'll get it signed." He sure changed tunes on that in a hurry! Thousands of calls and emails causes those changes in position. Please don't let up on them now! Keep hammering them!

I will add that most LTC Instructors are not Firearms Instructors. A Firearms Instructor teaches you to shoot. LTC Instructors watch you shoot. Just my .02, LeonCarr

LOL I hope it passes guys but you need to be an NRA pistol instructor or a firearms instructor through Tcleose to be able to even take the license to carry instructors course. Usually about 1-2 year waiting list after you get your other certs. Total cost is around 2K all said and done when you pay for travel, hotel stay, and classes. I agree it will put a few business owners in a bind. I have the instructors license but just got it for clients to teach them and their staff so I don't charge for it. If its what Texas wants let them have it! Been a long fight and been brought up before maybe this time it will get through. Not really sure how other guys teach it but I am always teaching people how to shoot most are new shooters that have never shot a gun before. I will stay after class and work with people who need the help.

What do y'all think about the senate going back on expunging the records of people convicted of concealed carry without a license? I feel like it said something that the Rs and Ds in the house both agreed on that issue.

I feel like it said something that the Rs and Ds in the house both agreed on that issue. There were a lot of undeserving people arrested for UCW through the years. Vast majority of them were just carrying because they needed to, and got caught. I'm onboard with it.
