Anyone swear by them? My wife refuses to consider buying one and has always been very sensitive about technology being used by the government and others to track our everyday movements.
Just curious how others feel about them. Thought the topic might generate useful discussion.

No Alexis or wifi cameras or Nest type thermostats inside mine. I have a security cameras outside. I have a Ring setup. There is the option to toggle away and home. Mine alway is set in home postion. Ring does not moniter ocupied space.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Man just be careful if you ever have your MIL housesitting and watching your dogs while you're out of town. Let your wife look first. There are some things that can't be unseen.

If you need a camera inside your house you need better friends.

Inside, I've got one Ring pointed at the front door, and one pointed at the back doors. In away mode, they sense movement and send an alert to my phone so I'll know immediately if someone gets into the house. In home mode, they're turned off.
If some Chinese hacker wants to tap into the camera and get a video of a middle aged man walking to the fridge in his birthday suit in the middle of the night to get a drink of water, more power to him. Not exactly something he's going to be able to monetize.

I believe ring makes wifi cameras that don't require wiring - just a electrical outlet to plug into. We hard Arlo wireless cameras (battery operated) inside for a while. We now have a Furbo inside - even if you don't have a dog I would consider them; they can detect glass breakage, smoke/fire alarms, etc and send an alert to your phone (not to mention they can detect dogs barking, choking, etc...plus you can sling treats) - excellent camera and video quality for the price.

Works with an app on your phone so you can access the video anywhere you have a cell signal. Here’s an idea just get a dog ! Best of both worlds, a friend and a alarm system. The dog goes with me when I go somewhere. The cameras are for when we're gone.

When we were rv'ing we were seldom home since we wintered in S Texas and spent summers in New Mexico.I had two wireless wifi cameras inside the house, one looking at my safe and the other in living room looking at the front door.Movement triggered them and sent videos off site to another website and sent my phone a alert.
Not all those that wander are lost..

I have 4 camera inside my home all on the first floor, and 7 outside my home. Had them for many years, wouldn't have a house without CCTV.
All mine a hardwired and I had a cable installer run the cable thru the house and in the walls.
I do have on portable WiFi Cam I can put anywhere I need it

I"ll skip the sales pitch ---- but if you want to film what is going on ,this takes 30 second movies , motion activated. And you can plug your phone into to recharge .

We have ring front door and driveway, and Nest cameras throughout the house. The indoor cameras are great when we have a babysitter (they are all hidden), and when we are away. It also made for a fun video one date night when my wife and I forgot to turn the cameras off!

I can see putting in a system if there's a problem, like suspected child abuse from a caregiver, but other than something like that, the idea seems creepy to me.

I had one put in my garage so I can see if I left my garages doors up. I had two put inside my home to catch any entrance into the front or back door. I also put them so I could see where my dogs sleep inside the house so I could keep an eye on them if I was traveling
