Then how come I just bought 3 boxes(limit for that store per day) of CCI MiniMags for $7.82 a box? Store still made a profit.
Mods, can this be moved to the Ammo and Reloading section? Thanks

I know that Academy has raised their prices on all their ammo BUT WalMart's ammo has been reasonably priced. I have already purchased .270, .3030 and .3006 bullets from various WalMarts here in San Antonio this past month. Remington and Winchester bullets were selling in the range of $18.95 to $26.99 per box of 20.

I bought 3 boxes of Remington Cor-Lok for $19 each today @ Walmart. They had a fair amount of .308, .270 & .22.

Wow, it's a nice 50% jump in price. The guys at the corporate office must follow market prices on gunbroker or ammoseek.
Last week, I bought 2 boxes of 50rds FMJ 38 special ammo for $24.99 each. Yesterday, I bought 2 more and they were $29.99 each. I asked the manager why there was 20% jump in price in less than a week. He told me the manufacturers raised their prices. This is a BS statement.
For sure, it's either the distributors raised the prices or the stores themselves.

Bottom line, there is still big shortage and people continue to wait in line before the stores open to get what they want/need.

Some manufacturers have raised prices. The nammo group that owns berger and lapua recently raised prices it was announced ahead of time though. I'd be shocked if some of the others haven't either.

I know for a fact that manufacturers have raised their prices. I was in a shop that buys directly from ammo maker and he said prices were up substantially.

Of course demand is high.

Manufacturers raise prices when their expenses increase. Fuel for freight we all know what Biden has caused. Who here knows the price of lead and copper right now, versus a year ago?

Copper - 84.0967% increase
Lead - 25.482% increase

Copper had a significant increase just shy of a month after Biden's Oath to destroy our country.

Normal increases are expected to cover costs of rise in components but it is not as much as is said by the wholesalers, not by a longshot. If they told the truth then the extraordinary increases would clearly fall on them. What the heck do you expect him to say?

Those are some pretty substantial price increases. How much has brass gone up?

That's not so straightforward for me to answer. Unlike the elements Copper and Lead, Brass is an alloy (of Copper and Zinc, and can also *include the elements Arsenic, Phosphorus, Aluminum, Manganese, and Silicon), so I suppose the price would depend on the specific alloy ratio. It looks like Zinc is up about 48% in the last year.

Maybe a smart person can help out.

* I Googled that info

That's why I didn't ask about brass. It isn't a stand alone element.

Everything is going up. You can't have the fed print trillions of dollars in the last year and expect things not to inflate.

This is just the beginning. Two ways for the government will tax you, the normal way and to print money so yours is worth less.

Locking down the world economy so there are less goods and printing money leads to hyper inflation.

I'm not trying to preach, its' just much bigger than ammo. Companies will be dramatically increasing prices to offset commodity prices.

This chart tells it all.

How much has brass gone up was just a rhetorical question. My point is that there has been a significant increase in raw materials.

Federal said in April their prices were going up 8-15%. The prices I saw were way higher increases than that at Academy.
