Ok I maybe moving on to a lease that has a small cabin w/ bunk beds. Has power but no water thinking about getting one of those totes and figuring out a way to pump & heat water for showers and dishes. Any one else done something like this?

Yeah, we had an RV pump, ran with jumper cables off someone's truck, and a 6 gallon electric hot water heater 110v, just be sure to have a low point drain to drain it all when you leave.
Also saw one with a copper tube coiled around a burner like a fryer would have, water ran through it was warm enough for shower....had garden hose fittings on each end, they used an electric pump too

thetankcompany.com, where is your lease at. If it is any where within 90 miles of Abilene, let me know, I have a guy that will deliver 1500 gallons of abilene city water for $50. I have a 1500 gallon black tank which I hooked up to a pump and works great.

I did the same thing on another lease. We had a 2,500 gallon tank and a pump to provide pressure to a mobile home. A 1,000 gallons would last a while and cost about hundred dollars for delivery (Shackleford County area).
On my current lease, I made a water trailer, by buying a 325 gallon water tank, and a cheap utility trailer with a strong axle to carry it. I just drive it to a cattle tank and fill it up when needed. I use it to pump water into my RV tank when I need to refill. Lasts a few weeks during the season before needing a refill. I got the trailer from "Mike's Trailers" in east TX.

On a previous lease we used 55 gallon plastic drums (food grade) with a submersible pump and a "point-of-use" water heater. Run PVC piping (1/2" if I remember correctly) with quick disconnect (no glue) from pump, to POU heater, and then to a shower head. It's really simple to put together. I got the heater at Home Depot for like $100. So including a couple of drums... should run you about $250 for all the materials. Be sure to get a rather large pump that will give you good water pressure to the shower head. IMO... Really not a bad investment if you plan to stay on the lease a while. A 55 gallon drum of water will last you a while, if you're just washing the funk off of you. It was kind of a PITA to have to haul and unload 55 gallons of water once a month, but I don't see any reason why this same setup wouldn't work with one of the larger 'tanks'. And of course with the point of use heater, you have consistant hot water. As long as there is water moving through it, it will be hot.

I have also used a 55 gallon drum, a transfer pump from harbor freight, and hooked it into a water spicket at the house, then shut off the valve to the old water well dry. I cut the end of an extension cord and wired it into the pump. After you figure out how to prime the pump it works well. We would plug it in when we wanted to use it. We could take showers etc. We ran it through a hot water heater as well. By shutting off the picket when not used, the hot water would stay hot. This is a much cheaper way but you have to refill the 55 gallon drums quite a bit. 4 showers each day, with washing dishes and flushing the toilet every now and then, would run through around 200 gallons of water. You could hook it up to a tote and probably get through a weekend. I still suggest the large tank. You can pick it up in Fairfield and not pay shipping. You could use your tote and tote water back and forth one weekend (maybe a work weekend). Talk to the city or a neighbor and work something out. 2000 gallons of water would cost a resident ~$15 (check you water bill). Give the people $1000 and they make $85 for nothing. a couple of links http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=1479 ,, www.tankdepot.com

We're in the same boat on our lease. Running water at main camp, but none at our camp. I just bought a trailer outfitted with 2- 275 gallon tanks on it. I'm going to rig it up to our trailer with an "on-demand" pump. That way the pump kicks on when you the water pressure drops (you use water) and then kicks off when not in use. Otherwise, you have to manually turn the pump on and off.

Rain water. Put some gutters on the cabin and take a 500gal black poly tank out there. You will have more than enough water. Put an under the sink RO filter and a UV filter in the kitchen and it will be cleaner than 99% of the municipal water in Texas. You will collect .6 gal of water per 1" of rain per sq.ft. of roof. So if your cabin is 500sq.ft. you will collect roughly 300gal of water in a 1" rain.
