The problem is 95% of people still don't know "what" ercot is. They just enjoy the headlines and the politicians talking.

Ercot stepped on their crank when they said they were prepared for the winter storm. Pizz poor leadership and management. The government doesn’t even trust them now.

No , they just found a loop hole to fleece us from the power plant mistakes. IMO it incentivizes mistakes....by design.....

Suppliers can't store excess electricity created by their generators, which forces them to operate at very thin margins in such a competitive market. It just goes to show you how close they run near demand, leaving little wiggle room when facilities are offline for maintenance in preparation for the summer months.

How thin are their margins? My last electric bill (fixed rate) was just $39 and some change.

If you want a power grid with more excess capacity, then obviously you have to be willing to pay for more waste.

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

Laura Miller's husband, Steve the Rat-faced Lawyer was the legislator who pushed through the deregulation of power in Texas.
In a Dallas Morning News article in the business section he admitted that flaws in the bill cost consumers money. Said he wrote the bill and it was a mistake.

My opinion is that power company lawyers wrote the bill and gave him a lot of money to grease the skids. Change my mind.

But at least Laura replaced that perfectly workable bridge that wasn't named after anyone with a bridge to the same place that has a name. And Dallas is such a wonderful city because of it.

Some might say it is a plot hatched by the home generators companies.

OK, then why did they run their heads and tell Texas leadership that everything was OK and they where prepared for the storm. Don't commit to something you can't control.

Ercot looks at the forecast given. The forecast given sucked.

You clearly need to research the topic if you believe ercot controls privately owned generation plants

Ercot is basically nthe coordinator of grid. could there be a better system? Maybe. But failures in the system are not their doing.

As for yesterday's click bait that got your panties in a wad.

When do all you geniuses think preventive maintenance, maintenance etc should be done? April or July?

All that happened was yesterday was warmer than expected. Plants were offline getting ready for summer. Stop crying over absolutely nothing.

Wrong...yesterdays issue was another forecasting error. Heard it right from the Ercot reps mouth.

My panties were not in a wad...just commenting on another company that's too big to fail and being operated by incompetent leadership. Pretty sad nearly the entire board resigned after the fall out of the winter storm. F'n idiots.

Maint is ongoing and needs to be "budgeted" for and scheduled.

I used to be mad because we have SWEPCO and can't chose who we get our power from. No shopping around for the best rates, but after all of this I am kind of glad we don't. We never lost power during the extreme cold weather and no big spike in prices either. Good luck to the rest of Texas as this drama plays out.

What makes you believe they are a large company to big to fail?

FYI TXGUNNER308 they only have 900 employees, and have a revenue of less then 200 million.

My local power company has twice as many employees, and almost 3 billion in revenue.
