Yep- Carrier and Daiken now have inverter/dc-compressor condenser units for central/split HVAC - still a bit pricey, but the tech is coming along fast.

Most MFGR will warranty the compressor for 10 years as long as you the end-user complete/submit the warranty registration.
I can easily obtain/replace small parts like caps, contactors, control boards, blower motors; ie- regular maintenance items, for pennies on the dollar compared to retail service.
True, not everybody can do electrical or technical - that's why you need a tech buddy if you can't.

It’s funny how DC is what was originally the type of electricity used. They had trouble delivering long distances without losing power or lights pulsating. They switched to AC. NOW they’re applying the DC to components, once converted from AC to the appliance.

And LED’s were invented in the 50’s. Look at us now
