Tough one for me..
The way most unions operate I say no..
However, I've seen first hand how people can be completely screwed over without the ability to organize and have a unified voice.

Only had one union job and it is the only job I ever got laid off at (wasn't senior enough despite being the hardest worker on the floor). They had no problem collecting my dues, but saw zero benefit. Will never make that mistake again. Same here but I quit instead. Unions are great for lazy folks. They were amazed that I quit when they tried to force me to a different shift. I was a single parent at the time Couldn't make it work.

That sums it up, Colt likes Unions and beans in his chili.
I think if you’re only qualified for, or driven for low income work, then that’s what you shall have. I don’t think the Union should save you from that.
There was a time when this country needed Unions. That time is long since past. There have been laws in place since the 60s to protect workers. These days Unions are just company killers.
like said, union set up ta help low-income workers... & then, the ones running union messed it up, using it for them selves... Everything going high-tech, we had no say about our meter reading job... Thar were things we did beside read meters & we were staying ahead, going & helping in other area's... Like the hog problem, every one whines, some can understand, tearing up the place, others see big buck'$... Put down hunters willing ta help... They got expensive, gas, ammo, guns, & thar time... & ya i likes beans in me chili... edit : laws since the 60's ta protect the workers ? Thar twas no help whin i filed on workmans comp... laughed @ made fun of... They had lawyers on thar payroll... Ended up getting lawyer, he got new office, & more clients, people DO get hurt @ work...it ruined my credit...

Been in union for 28 years at out plant it has more bad points than good and protects some pretty sorry workers. But looks like that is all going to end soon as it looks like they are not going to open back up. I may still be able to retire sometime this fall just a waiting game now. This is one of the better paying employer's in East Texas so it's not good for a pretty big area.

Labor unions outlived their usefulness long ago.
