Can’t stop thinkin’ about his poor wife, and all those sweet pups not knowing what’s going on, and TexasLefty. The world lost a great dude and I shoulda pestered him way more than I did.

When I bought my property and had questions about running electricity to my barn, he damn near took my hand and walked me through the process step by step. I asked him a ton of really dumb questions over PM, and he took the time to answer every one of them without losing patience. Wish I'd have had the chance to buy him that beverage I said I'd buy him if we ever met.

Just talked to him over PMs a few weeks ago, he was optimistic about getting to go home.

I can give a general description of what happened to Keith. He began having mobility issues a couple of years ago, meaning he started having a hard time negotiating stairs. Over time he lost more and more leg strength. Late last year he had what was believed to be a "mini-stroke," and spent several weeks in the hospital, then in a rehab facility. He was sent home. He told me he thought there had been blood clots in his legs for years, leading to muscle deterioration, weakness, and the stroke. While he was at home he tried to keep his spirits up, but I think he knew, and I knew too. He used the term "deathbed" in one of our last conversations. Anyway, he wasn't eating enough and wouldn't eat the right stuff and his condition worsened over the weekend (I did not see him, was busy with visiting relatives). He basically weakened to the point that he had a seizure on the way to a doctor's appointment detoured to the hospital at a nurses urging, and never recovered. I think that's about as detailed an account as should be given, much more he likely would not have approved.

dang, hate to read this ... Cast always seemed willing to help anyone out where he could, had some great recipes and walked many a person thru seasoning cast iron cooking stuff. He will be missed here for his insight. Prayers for his family during this time.
