I am thinking of getting out of the .223 business altogether. I have converted all of my AR's over to 300 BLK except one. That one sits in the safe and never get's touched. I even took it to the range with me last time, and still never shot it. I just don't like .223 anymore. IMO, 300 BLK does a better job in hunting situations than .223. 300 BLK is better at close range. At long range, I wouldn't trust such as small bullet for game anyhow. Yes, .223 is cheaper, but I reload 300BLK and already have the components to keep myself in ammo for a VERY long time. I have a buddy that wants to buy my .223 upper (actually, it is a 5.56). I have, I think 700+ rounds of new, brass cased .223/5.56 ammo. If I sold the ammo for .50 cents per round (cheaper than the current market value), and sold the upper to my buddy, that would give me plenty of cash to build a really nice upper in 300 BLK. Am I crazy?

I got out of 223 for a while but came back. With the right bullet it is a great round.

I don't have one...but for me since the Hamr was released I have even less need for a 300BO than I do for a .223...I think you're crazy regardless of the correct answer to the question.

about 4 years ago, I had seriously considered the same thing of going 100% 300 Blackout, but I had like 4,000 rounds of various .223/5.56 and rifles chambered. I was not in financial good shape to even switch over. I let it go. I don't reload but if I did, maybe that would have been a deciding factor.
I have hunted everything native to Texas with Winchester 64 grain power point in .223 with great success.

I'd buy a lower, put the 5.56 upper on it, and put it in the corner, along with all your ammo.

You never know when you might want, or need to pick it up again.

I haven't fired my 223 in 5+ years, but I doubt I'll ever sell it.

Sounds like you have multiple 300 BO's why not sell the lesser ones to fund the nicer one.

You do have two very valid points! I have looked at the Hamr as well, but I already have all the components and magazines for 300BLK. No need to buy anything except the parts for the upper. And if I do this, I am not going to cheap out on the barrel either.
My wife agrees with your second point.

May want to hang on to that gun. Executive orders from Ft. Biden on buying and selling guns along with magazine capacity restrictions are supposedly coming thursday. You may need it at some point in the future for defense against these gun grabbers.

FYI - i just bought 3 PSA ARs in 5.56nato and love them. Sold my 300blkout to buy'em.

One is a 300BLK pistol wearing a red dot, and the other is a rifle wearing a scope. My son and my wife both prefer the 300BLK rifle to hunt with over all of my firearms. If I had 2 300BLK rifles wearing scopes, they would no longer have to fight over it.

I've been really impressed by it and if you have 300BO stuff the only things you'd really need are a barrel, brass and dies...you should have everything else. It just has a fair amount of extra donkey than the 300bo...all in the numbers, don't believe me go check out the Wilson site. I am sure someone is since it's SAMMI but the Wilson barrels I've received have been good to great and I've not seen one not shoot yet.

No on the mags...I've used AWR and Magpul 300bo mags in mine.

CFEBLK is the powder most guys are running.

The crazy part has already been settled. Now do you want to lose your sanity as well thru domestic disagreement? I'd get that second 300 BLK rifle ASAP.

A quick google search tells me that CFE BLK has a similar burn rate to IMR4198. So it is much slower than the 300-MP that I currently have a ton of and use for 300BLK supersonics. I do have some 4198 that I use for 45/70, but I don't have much. I'm gonna have to ponder this. I don't think an extra 200FPS is going to change my world.

I also reload and even have 300BO dies despite no 300BO firearm and still would not want one because of the cost. They best price I ever saw for factory ammo was still 3X what 5.56X45 used to sell for. No thanks. Ballistics-wise, I prefer 7.62X39 anyway...
