Great experience, my 2 99's are from the 50's and in 300 Savage, love them levers.

Well done Mr. T! I have a similar aged 99 also, not passed down though. Yours is extra special.

I got a model 99 in 300 savage from my grandfather when I was 10. I'm 71 now. The gun was manufactured in 1927. It had not been shot in over 60 years and just stayed in the back of my closet. I could not find any ammo for it and so I put a request to buy some here on THF. Two different people gave me a box. There are such great people on this forum. I took it out Easter Sunday afternoon and shot it for the first time. 1", 3 shot group at 65 yards, one inch high. That's the distance to my feeder. A grandson of a friend of mine was out there and I said lets go hog hunting. We sat on the ground with our backs to some pine trees. I gave him the gun to use and at 4:30 about 10 hogs came in. He shot two of them with the lever action savage. I could not have been happier for him and for how my grandfathers rifle still shoots. great job, great gun, again great gun, they are addictive, what I heard
hold on Newt, we got a runaway
