I had no flood insurance, readers might find these pics interesting. This is on Bay St. Louis, Miss. --- basically the Gulf Coast. Insurance paid $19,000, said the roof blew off from wind,,, the rest was flood damage.

Oh my goodness! So sorry for your loss.

Was there no ability to buy flood insurance thru fema or did you just not take it?

If that doesn't change your mind regarding the power of a hurricane nothing will. That's a bad loss booskay. Very much a shame that such a beautiful house was destroyed like that.

Looks like Booskay has done very well in life; hopefully, this was a decision to self insure?

Beautiful place!

We went to New Orleans and Biloxi the year after Katrina ( we were booked at the Beau Rivage a few weeks after Katrina hit , of course that trip was cancelled) We could not believe damage evident a year later.

Beautiful old homes on hiway 90 just gone. The last time we were in the area , Lawyers still had billboards advertising for
Katrina insurance cases.

Plans to rebuild ?

good luck

Man that sux, sorry to hear about this. Just curious, this happen 15 years ago, and you are just now posting about it? Did the claim just finally get settled after 15 years?

If you live on the Gulf Coast and do not have flood and wind insurance, its' a person's own fault.

It's a matter of time before a hurricane comes, it's not if

That’s an incredible loss! Mother Nature is a beast to say the least.

Why post this so many years later? Also you give very few details.

The house was built in the 70's------- hurricanes are no big deal on the coast,,,,, at least not for a concrete house,,, so it survived 30 yrs of hurricanes ---- Katrina was a different animal .----------- Chose not to have the flood ins,,, mostly because how the house was built. Never rebuilt,,, right now there is flight out of New Orleans, because of liberal woman mayor ----- everything on the Miss coast is sold. I sold the lot for $350K in June of last year,,, about $100K more than I would have thought it was worth. I never lived there,,I live in Temple, just a summer place to go vacation. Here is the last of the story in pics.
