Nomad Internet for an option. It is my understanding that they a similar to the old REA.

Viasat here....it is OK. You can't watch you tube all the time....you will hit your usage limits. When you hit limits it still works but slower. I think they have different plans. Also, you can buy more usage if you need it. Free unlimited usage between 11 PM and 5 AM.

I would avoid Hughes Net. We've had in CO for many years and it's been terrible. Just waiting until Starlink is available before making the switch.

Nomad Internet for an option. It is my understanding that they a similar to the old REA. They are better than the hot spot my phone company provided ,and it was a separate device . Nomad had an offer for a free router so I took the plunge . I don't pay for tv but I get the internet I want for 99.95 a month . Was 10 bucks a gigabyte of data . Like I said ,check them out to see if they have a plan you like .

If your phone works out there look at the providers data plan and hot spot. This. Cell phone signal is weak here but I fixed that with a little 12" antenna and amplifier from We Boost for $300 (Wilson Electronics) Now I have full bars for all the phone and internet. I pay ATT $69.00/mo for 150 GB of data at a speed of around 45 down and 25 up. Being cell-based, there is not any noticeable latency like satellite has. We've been using this for over a year and I'm not looking for a change. Hughs was a lot more expensive, 1/3 the speed and 1/3 the data. And if it rained, forget it - no signal. Yes, I liked my Uverse fiber a whole lot more, but it ain't gonna happen out here!

If your phone works out there look at the providers data plan and hot spot. This is what we ended up doing. Started with Hughesnet. We could barely watch Netflix on one TV at night. It would buffer every 2-3 minutes during the daytime.

Just signed up, we'll see how this goes! Getting a lot of great reviews. Plus it's only going to get better. It's a lot newer and much better technology. HughesNet sucks. We tried it for a few months. Had a decent connection for a few weeks, then it was probably dialed back just like everyone says happens. Right now we have People's Internet. It's a functional DSL connection, but the speeds are nothing to get excited about. We'll put in our order for Starlink soon. It will probably be 10x faster than what we have for about the same price.

Right off of 2484 near 195.In between Killeen and Youngsport. You should be lit-up like a Christmas tree - you have a cell tower (w/ AT&T & T-mobile) right at that intersection. Verizon maybe not so strong (theirs look twice as far away), so if your cell-phone is on verizon don't decide till you test AT&T bars on your property. Worst case a booster with antenna on pole pointed at that intersection & a AT&T hotspot should give you 5-bars, full speed. You'd be silly to even consider satellite - being so close to a cell tower. I doubt you'd even need a booster w/ AT&T, but maybe if topology/trees, etc. from cellmapper.net :

We are about to start building and then move to our place in the heartland full time. So far, when there I use Hotspot on AT&T and it works out okay, but as soon as we know the move timiing, I am going with Startlink. Seems to be the wave...

Spoke to Century Link...That was a painful experience. Sales people are pretty pushy.

HughesNet makes more money off contract cancellations than they do providing service. Should tell you all you need to know. Get on the Beta tester waiting list with StarLink. It goes by enrollment so the sooner you do it, the higher on the list you'll be. They don't open areas all at once, they'll start with the first hundred on the list, then add a hundred, and so on. So far, it's proving itself to be miles ahead of the competition, it's going to drive all the other satellite providers out of business.
