I am looking for one of those flat plastic no tangle check cords at a local store. I'm sure I could find it online, but I want it today or tomorrow. Does anyone have any ideas before I start running around?

Sorry no help. I've only found them online. I just order them from Permatack's website.

I do have a new puppy. Right now I am just going to use it as a long leash. Sometimes her nose takes over and she is gone in a flash.

Why only flat? Never seen one.

I have one you can borrow if I can get it back. It's for my police dog. Have a 20' rubber one with grip knobbies or a 10' biothane one. If you need one while waiting on one to come in the mail.

Amazon prime, I checked and there is a reasonably priced flat check cord with choice of half a dozen lengths from 15ft to 100ft available for delivery tomorrow. If you see what else is on there, might find one with a by end of day today option if you add the $3 for expedited shipping cost.
To add, delivery options like next day or the same day option might be different depending on your location is in relation to the amazon warehouse that has that particular one in stock. I must be really close to an Amazon hub as I often have experiences like working on one of my vehicles, order parts when I start tearing it down and have the parts handed to me by the amazon driver same day while I am still under my hood. Or plan a next day fishing trip and have the lures I want for the trip sitting on my porch before I leave.

Stinkbelly, if I am understanding your purposes, a retractable leash from PetSmart would be better than a check cord. They make a long one, 26 feet at least. No tangling up, and keeps a young pup under ultimate control while still allowing him/her to run around and explore. It's funny to me that sometimes hunting dog owners just get in a pattern where we can't see that sometimes the regular stuff is better. I have a permatack cord, and use it when I want a dog to drag it and slow her down a little. But for a lot of things, especially letting a young pup run and sniff things, a retractable leash is better.

I am teaching her to be off leash, but I want something long dragging behind for when she takes off. She ran under the house this morning at 5am.

Next day air from GDS would cost him 45 bucks just for the shipping and would not have been shipped until tomorrow. I would just get one of the $10+- check cord from amazon for tomorrow and order a nicer one from GDS with enough other stuff to get their free snail mail shipping to use later.

if you have an electrician friend, see if they can get you a piece of mule tape. that'll work until you can get one online.

I pick one up from Amazon. I couldn't find anything locally. I'm just keeping her on a 6-foot leash and let it drag behind her for now.

I received the "leash" from Amazon this weekend. I cut off the handle so it wouldn't get tangled. I bought the 16 footer. It is working great. She is really learning to use her nose and when she finds a scent, she is gone. This allows me to have a little control over her while letting her explore.
