ARs are a Sawzall.
I would rather use my Porta-ban, my vertical band saw, my plasma cutter. But sometimes the only tool for the job is a Sawzall. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
Tool for the toolbox.
Ya gotta clean the action and the BCG fairly frequently. And they must be well lubed all the time.
They will never shoot as tight as a bolt action.
But, they have their place.

I didn't own an AR for a while. Even though I'm not crazy about them, it just feels un-American to not have one. So I do. Had two, but gave one to my brother because I told him all red-blooded Americans need one. We both have Rugers - mine is a mid-level model and his is lower end. Both work well and are fun to shoot.

This ones not mine. My Buddy wanted a new rifle for our prairie dog hunt next week. He told me his budget, I told him he could get a great BOLT ACTION rifle, gave him some suggestions. He insisted on an AR, He wanted a 6.5 Creedmoor. Scheels had this 6mm Creedmoor , in stock. I told him about the caliber, fast, accurate and deadly BUT in a AR Platform some shoot lights out, some shoot lights on. He bought this rig, with a $335 bipod, $130 case and he's about $600 out for ammo. He got about $6K all in with taxes. Thing weighs a TON he's a tall , muscled up guy, so I guess he can handle it. Gun is definitely built for sitting or prone. Me, I own one AR, its in pistol configuration. AR's are a gun for a different forum
