Yes, they definitely have some value. To me it all depends on how they were stored and whether they were exposed to moisture or humidity for the old paper shells.
They are also older than you were thinking. The Federal shells look like later 60's through the 70's. The others look older. Most paper shells were phased out by the early 60's.

Oh wow I had no idea they were that old, I’ve got somewhere around 2000 rounds total of 16ga, 20ga and 12ga shells, both paper and plastic shells, I have a entire case of unopened 500 rounds of 12ga paper shells from Sears. I have a bunch!

I already have plenty of 16 ga. There is a 16 gauge forum out there I used to visit. The 16 has sort of a cult following. You can go to a 1 1/8 shot load. Shoots like a 12, kicks like a 20. In some instances the patterns are better than a 20, so I've been told. On the paper- once again a few old timers like them- search around on the net.

Another thing on the older 16 gauge shells is that some of them may be 2-9/16" instead of 2-3/4".

On this gauge business, the pellets travel at the same speed regardless of gauge so getting hit by one pellet from a 10 gauge mag or 410 is the same. I read that the smaller gauges stack the pellets on top of each other and the pattern may not be as good as the same number of pellets from a larger gauge. The English have 2 1/2" "light" loads in 12 gauge based on this idea of better patterns, but.....whether it's true or not- I have no idea. In any event, this 16 gauge of mine, a side by side, nice gun.
