An assault weapon such as an AR-15 has 10 times the killing power of a handgun because of the incredible speed of the bullet. It is designed to kill, not wound. A high-capacity magazine compounds the chaos.
I will always have my shotgun and snub-nosed .38 revolver for protection, but I really don’t need a killing machine. I hope further sales of this weapon are prohibited. Assault weapons belong in the hands of police and the military — nobody else.
- Bill Hodges, Colleyville

I know which need I put first
I get that there will always be those who want to plow down crowds of people. People who are filled with hatred or who are mentally unstable are an unfortunate aspect of the human condition.
What I cannot comprehend is why private citizens are allowed to have assault weapons. Are their guns really more important than humanity and common sense? What’s more important: somebody’s “need” for an assault rifle or the good of society?
Is this insanity really acceptable to them? Hasn’t it come to a point where something must be done?

People are too stupid to comprehend a simple document written almost 250 years ago.

All true but you could have stopped after four words.

Last time I checked you are just as likely to die when shot with a handgun as you are with a longarm. Bullet size and speed are a moot point.

Uneducated and uninformed, they don't know what their talking about. Most deaths by guns in the U.S. are suicide.

All anti-gun arguments are stupid.

It’s by design, won’t be long before they try to ban ammo over a certain FPS.

The dude bill is most likely lie’ing about have any firearms, not sure any fire arm owner can be that ignorant

Two different arguments..........."I'll keep my guns but I don't approve of your choices."........and "I don't know anything about firearms but I'm going to judge you and your right to own them."

The majority of homicides are due to handguns, not rifles. Why does everyone keep calling the AR a assault rifle? It's not!

The quote attributed to Bill Hodges of Colleyville fits both of the points you made.
The quote attributed to Susan Elizabeth Nus shows that she doesn’t know anything about firearms and very little about the realty of our society.

Those comments by bill and Susan are moronic. We have a people problem not a gun problem! The left is taking over I keep saying this over and over again.

Considering the publisher, I would guess they cherry picked responses that fit their agenda. They discarded all of our comments of "keep your commie hands off my guns".

Ban assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, bump stocks - - but keep in mind: .

1 - Eleven teens die each day because of texting while driving. Maybe it is time to raise age of Smart Phone ownership to 21.

2 - If gun control laws actually worked, Chicago would be Mayberry, US.

3 - The Second Amendment makes more women equal than the entire feminist movement.

4 - Legal gun owners have 300 million guns and probably a trillion rounds of ammo. Seriously, folks, if we were the problem, you would know it.

5 - When JFK was killed, nobody blamed the rifle.

6 - The NRA murders 0 people and receives ($$$$ 0) nothing in government funds. Planned Parenthood kills 350,000 babies every year and receives $500,000,000 in tax dollars annually.

7 - I have no problem with vigorous background checks when it comes to firearms. While we are at it, let us do the same when it comes to immigration, Voter I.D., and candidates running for office.

8 - Folks keep talking about having another Civil War. One side knows how to shoot and probably has a trillion rounds. The other side has crying closets and is confused about which bathroom to use. Now tell me, how do you think that would end?

I have heard that the thought process behind the 5.56 is it wounds taking more folks out of the battlefield. Let's face it, it's a .22 caliber projectile that may be going 3000fps but it's still tiny compared to other battlefield rounds.

I said all that without adding accuracy to the equation which is the caveat on dying when shot.

That's also the reason for FMJ.
