Looking at doing an outdoor fire pit by the pool and looking for ideas and pros/cons of what you've got. Haven't decided on stone or prefab, natural gas or propane. I have a stubbed out gas line I could use, but would have to be ran a little ways.

Also, if anyone has any leads on a reliable contractor (I know that's an oxymoron, Lol) wouldn't mind hearing some referrals.

Post up some pics!

Thanks, guys.

I've heard nothing but good things about "GUTIT" here on the THF. Give him a shout.

Not one you mentioned but....We got one of these, best thing is almost no smoke and doesn't use much wood. Move it where you want it

Paluxy, I've looked at some of those "no-smoke" pits. They look pretty cool, but not sure I would want to mess with the wood, ashes, and having to light it every time.

Never have seen one that I didn't like.

Many contractors will undersize the gas line and give you a low flame, depending on depth I would be going with at least 1" maybe even look into 1.5" gas pipe

We have two fire pits. A small stainless one is on the back porch, where the family can gather around and drink wine and tell lies. It gets the most use. There’s a big one out under the oak trees, but we only use it when we have a big bunch of people here and the weather is right.

Since I have what seems to be an unlimited supply of firewood, if I don’t mind gathering it, we’ll stay with the wood fired pits.

This is what we have at the cabin. You can burn an 1/8 cord in a night pretty easy.

I’m a wood guy...but that said, we are putting in a low table with an 18” propane fire bowl in the porch of the new house. There will be a large wood burning one out in the back yard, under the trees.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

Gas? That’s so boring and domestic. Wood has soul. Wood smells great when it burns. Wood requires a man to light it, and any man would be happy to do so. Come on, Doc. Be a man.
