Vernon's, Cantina Santa Fe, Yucatan and Executive Surf Club in Corpus Christi, early 1990s. Pelican Wharf's bar and Tom & Jerry's in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo. $20 for cover and all you could drink at T&J's when it was safe to go to MX.

I had a swanky apartment back in North Irving back when it was a happening place. I was around age 20, had a gated entrance which kept the strays from coming in at any time.
My pad was one hot place for the parties and the hot chicks

TurkeyHunters thread got me to thinking about this. What bars do you remember going to when you were single?
Stampede met my wife there 1993 or 1994
Stampede was a great place to hook up with some hotties, very very few fat chicks went there, and the quality was good since it was North Dallas at the time, It was located at Preston/635 and it was great place. Do you remember they would always have breakfast serving upstairs near closing time? Food was excellent and served like buffet style. I would usually get there for happy hour and get free admission and they used to have free food if got there before 7pm. I would catch all the ladies going there from work to hang out a few hours before going home to the husband/boyfriends, they were easy pickings. Then around 9:30 pm the real single ladies would start coming in and Thursday thru Saturday Night the place was happening. I was there around the same years you were, I even celebrated and had birthday parties there, it was fun place.

Our group use to hang out by the Shuffle board table by the long oval bar when you first walked in. A friend of mine Gary Kirlin that I had known from Elementary school in Oak Cliff was the bartender on that end. I would get there around 9:00 and leave around 1:00.

If you got there during happy hour on Thursday which I may remember was Ladies Night, they would run penny bottle beers and nickle mixed drinks from like 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, woman had to be the one buying.

I have been to alot of bars and I have not ever heard of a single one of these places aside from the Mucky Duck.
I used to frequent County Line, Wild West, Cowboys and my favorite bar, Chicago bar in Stone Oak.
Chicago used to have $1.50 crown and cokes from 2pm - 7pm. Used to get off work around 5 and head down there.....at those prices you couldn't afford not to go. Another one i frequented was a bar called "the highlander" which was formerly Lindy's and famous for all the Kens 5 news staff going their after their recording was done.
We had a Midnight Rodeo but it was a very old crowd and we didn't go much.
I always preferred a good dive bar over a big dancehall or club
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

We referred to it as Midnight Rope a Ho. The Lilly Pad was across the parking lot where hot tubs rented cheap. A friend told me.

TurkeyHunters thread got me to thinking about this. What bars do you remember going to when you were single? I started going to bars when I was 16 or 17, stopped when I got married at 39, spent way to many nights and way to much $$ in them every week. To many to list but a few favorites. Country & Western went to a whole bunch of them but my favorites were. Top Rail use to manage Dallas Gentlemen’s club (Topless) across the street, it was a great place to take a break. Borrowed Money younger crowd but very nice eye candy Cowboys Gaston Ave took dance lessons there on Sundays. Stampede met my wife there 1993 or 1994 Good Luck Rodeo. it was Midnight Rodeo when I went there 1980. Debonair Danceland couple of blocks away from my best friends house in the late 70's Longhorn Ballroom 1975 or 6, best ballroom brawl I have ever been in or seen. Gilleys Pasadena early 1980’s when I lived in Houston Rock & Roll did not hang out there to much, two places that were interesting Mother Blues way cool place in the 70's with great tunes, I was a little to straight. Silver Dollar Saloon. Operation Reciprocity. Disco Ducking. Travis Street Electric. Co. Always a lot of partying, loving and fighting. #3 Lift POS Tony Dorsett use to run up $300 + bar bills regularly and never tip. Tony usually went to the back bar where a very cool bartender named Sammy worked, one night Sammy asked him why he never tips, TD cold cocks him One other very funny notable instance. A pretty good friend who I almost locked horns with at first meet got arrested for being him and kept making sexual request from the arresting female Police Officer, did not work out to well for him Beggers oh to much crazy fun there After the Gold Rush I worked there. Confetti's Cafe Dallas. SMU Football players get life lessons And so many more stories So what about you Stub you party animal, I can't beat that.

It was always a blast I used to get a kick out of gong to bars when I looked completely out of place. I love dancehalls but you really only needed to be in there the last hour to hour and a half they were open. Any earlier it was a waste of time unless you just loved to dance

A friend told me the best Ladies Night I ever knew of was at the Animal House in San Marcos on Wednesday nights. Ladies were only allowed from 5 to 9. They got in free & drank free. The men started lining up at about 8:30 and gladly paid to get in .
