We have made a couple trips out west, CO and UT but never on the eastern side. Anyone ever ski out that way ? If so, what are your suggestions ?

The only place I have skied (10 years ago) on the east coast is Kissing Bridge, NY. It was decent for the price.

Yes, I’ve skied Maine and Vermont.

Mid or upper level experience it’s a waste of money IMO, now for kids it’s fine.

If you want to venture out, I’d look at Canada. My favorites in order preference Banff, Big white and Whistler.

Vermont tends to get better snow, in New Hampshire you will get more "frozen granular" which is ice and the edges of your skis need to be sharp. In Vermont, Stratton Mountain or Stowe are top places. Killington is good.

Skied Mount Snow years ago and it was awesome. Just make sure to hit the slopes that you can handle.

Lake Placid area is nice. But overall, any east coast skiing will pale compared to rocky mountain states.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Not necessarily suggesting them and I didn't go specifically for skiing - I went because I was in the area. Listed alphabetically.

New York
* Holiday Valley
* Peek'n Peak
* Plattekill

Ohio
* Alpine Valley
* Boston Mills and Brandywine
* Snow Trails

Pennsylvania
* Seven Springs (also mountain bike raced there)

Like North Dakota, except the snow was a lot deeper. We would check out ski's at rec supply on Base and go to the gravel pits north of Minot AFB and "cross country" our style up and down the "hills" of the gravel pit.

skied sunday river in maine a few times while building a house up there, sucked bad and the people were total idiots.

I was living in durango at the time so I was pretty disappointed with the ice they called snow.
trails that were marked black diamond would be easy greens in colorado or utah, greens were bunny hills and the longest run was not very exciting.

overall I give them a 3 out of 10 for good skiing.

like said, snow up there sucks, got to resharpen edges nightly or you won't have much control sliding.

if you want different, like said, canada or wyoming, montana just be sure you are at your appropriate skill level on any of those mts. or you may get the orange sled ride.
