It happens to the wife and I quite often. We talk about something and later that day an Ad shows up on our phone or her I pad.

Had some of that happen it me awhile ago. I changed my browser from google to duck duck go because I hate google and all it stands for. Now that crap has stopped. Can testify that was why but that’s the only change I did .
Just my experience and yes, it is creepy as hell. Please update us in a week. That's creepy for sure.

I'm thinking there is something in the vaccine, if you've taken it. If not, maybe you need to..

The suggestions are based on other things you have looked at or purchased. You don't even have to click on it. Facebook has an algorithm that keeps track of the ads it shows you. If you pause over one ad three seconds longer than another ad, it knows. If you click on the comments under the ad, it knows. Google and Amazon are the same way, it looks at millions of clicks, and where those clicks led. Say you bought Dinty Moore. 16% of people who bought Dinty Moore bought Miller Lite. 12% of people who have bought Dinty Moore and Miller Lite have bought dart boards and dart board accessories. You may have never bought a Miller Lite, but you bought Dinty Moore once, so there's a small chance you play darts. The mathematics behind the algorithms are fascinating, and frightening.
The other thing, it's probably come up under "suggested for you" a hundred times in the past, but your eyes passed right over it because you weren't looking for it.
(Think of it this way, and this is going to F with your head.) One of my vehicles is a yellow FJ Cruiser. You hardly ever see yellow FJ Cruisers driving around because they didn't make many of them, and a lot of them have been wrecked off by now. So while yellow FJ Cruisers are out there, they're not out there in great numbers. So when I'm driving my yellow FJ Cruiser and I see another yellow FJ Cruiser, it's a bit of an event.
And now for the fun part. The next time you see a yellow FJ Cruiser on the road, you're going to think back on this post. You probably never noticed them before, but now you will.
And that's how Facebook, Google, and Amazon make money.

And that's how Facebook, Google, and Amazon make money. While I understand your explanation, some of it just doesn't make sense to me pertaining to this particular situation. First off I do not have Facebook and I have never on Amazon looked for anything dart, billiard, or bar room related (category I would say they fit in to) Second, I will say, the "suggested for you" items are my weakness and I am an impulse buyer on those if at the right price. So, I just think I would remember that, but there is always the possibility. Third, I drink Michelob Ultra, so you would think the advertising would be for mountain bikes and physical activities like they reference in their marketing. Fourth and most importantly, I worked for Toyota for over 3 years and have seen more yellow FJ Cruisers in my life to the point that I think if I see one on the road my mind will mentally block it out, so this does not apply to me All joking aside, I do understand the concept, algorithms, etc of how data is collected and used for applied advertising towards an individual. I just for the life of me can not get over the simple fact it happened like that. I probably haven't picked up a dart in over 15 years, and have never even spoke of them since then. Perhaps complete coincidence, I know. But it really does just seem way to ironic to me. Given the chain of events that led up to the ad on Amazon, were completely private from any type of applied advertising collection system, that we are aware of, other than the camera on my phone, while using the flashlight. Crazy I am going to constantly say "give me a million dollars around my phone for the next month" Let you all know how it works out

Que up the ads from Publisher's Clearinghouse!
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Did you ever finish my holster?
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
