He bought some new binoculars last year but I'm not sure what kind. I appreciate suggestions though!

If he doesnt have them already I would get him some Swavorski EL binoculars. Sounds cheesy but they will be much appreciated.
Huh? What is chessy about $1,400.00 plus binos?
Actually, in answer to the original question, I was thinking Greener, side by side 10 guage.

But I think every person dreams about that 'safe queen' too.

Just incase he does have them... Which means we just tossed him under the bus
$1400 divide by 30 years really is that much... Think of it this way thats only 46 bucks a year for bio's that last a lifetime
Bottom line, never trust a man whose uncle was eaten by cannibals.-Sen Joni Ernst

I'll throw my .02 worth in.......If I were to receive a gift of this magnitude, I would think I would prefer a new item as opposed to the old. My reasoning is this: I really do like to clean my firearms after shooting. If I were to have an older more collectible piece, I might not be so willing to use it or I might clean it too good thereby taking some of its value away. I would end up just looking at it. However, a new piece I will take out and use from time to time and as I am cleaning every detail of it, more of its detail will be exposed to me. I would not need to treat this one with as much "kid gloves" as I would a collectible. That way each time I do use and clean the new piece, I will think of you (proverbially of course)and smile at what an excellent gift I was given.
