I seem to have lost the little seater stems and spring for my hornady hand priming tool. Feel like such a moron. This is the only priming tool I've ever used.

Looking for suggestions. Again I've only had that one so hand primers is the only thing I know but I do like it. Never any issues, other than losing things.

I used to have an old Lee hand primer and it was great. The handle finally broke on it and Lee no longer makes that style, so I bought thier new style. I can tell you NOT to get the new style Lee hand primer. They suck.

Have a hand priming tool that once worked great (starts with in Rc). It is such now that if I use I have to place the primer in the tool. Back to using the priming tool on my press, until I figure out where to put the bench mounted tool. I don't think I really I really got my money's worth. Am sure that I do not load as much as you do though.

I went through a couple of Lee & RCBS hand priming tools. I finally gave up on all of them & bought a RCBS bench priming tool. Best yet.

x2

The old round or square tray one is good...this new folding tray is a mess at best. It works but that's about the only positive I can say about it.

I did the same thing and bought this one. It has worked well so far. I like the seating depth adjustment feature.

Lately I have been using mainly the Frankford Arsenal one linked above or the bench mounted RCBS.
I still have a collection of the old style Lee’s that I have robbed parts off to keep a couple going as they were the best for the money until they weren’t.

Its a shame about the Lee priming tools, I really liked the old version, the new version not so much. The plastic parts break after a few hundred primers and have a tendency to misfeed and jam and can be hard to clear. I will say Lee has sent me replacement parts for free if I pay shipping, little consolation.

My thumbs are F'ed with tendonitis SO

I went to the RCBS Bench tool. It is like the Guirad trimmer "where have you been all my life"

I love it. Mounted it on a hunk of 1"X4' and use a C-clamp. Its portable.

My RCBS hand primer (new a few months ago) works great and much faster than anything mounted on a press that I’ve used. I’ve also noticed it allows you to feel loose vs. tight primer pockets where the other didn’t.

I have had the Lee Bench Prime for several years. No real problems and has a good feedback to the hands.
pretty affordable and used to be in stock everywhere ??

I went to one of these as well.

Brand new Lapua brass, Fed 210 and Fed 215M the primer going into the pockets are insane tight. I primed thousands upon thousands of pieces of brass with the RCBS hand held. Those were Hornady, Federal, Remington, and Winchester brass. Those are no big deal to prime and the hand held version is super fast. But the handheld version just doesn't make enough leverage for the brand new Lapua and Nosler brass.

So, my final recommendation is to get both. The hand held when the brass allows to go fast. The bench mount when the primer pockets are extremely tight. Tuesday I used both of them. The bench mount for brand new Lapua .308, and the hand held for third firing Lapua .223 A.I.

Thanks for all the feedback. I like this frankford arsenal tool.

However, I will consider a bench tool in addition to one day. Much more affordable than I thought. I have thought about the fact that priming some cases is a small work out trying to make it feel consistent as u seat them. Mostly my lapua brass.
How do u load that tube thing? Just manually?

I have used the old style lee hand primer too and it works great. I can’t believe they don’t make it any more. Have any of you seen or have experience with the new ACP from Lee? Looks like you can also deprime with it with the add-on depriming kit.

21st Century for me, I like to feel the primer seating. I have a Forster and a RCBS hand primer and I like the Century the best.

I just started loading Lapua Brass (300 BLK) and the new lee primer that I have won't do it. Now I know why.

RCBS hand primer in front of the TV or the weird swinging Lee one when I use my turret press.

Pass the gravy.

I prefer a hand primer for the feel of when the primer bottoms out as well if it is too loose. I load Winchester primers for the first rotation for tight pockets in new brass. Not sure if they are softer or dimensionally smaller but they do seat easier. I have the RCBS and Hornady hand primers. I like them both. With the Hornady make sure you use the green tray for small primers and the black tray for large primers or it is an abomination.

Yes. Primers out of the tray they came in. Into a flip tray (RCBS $6) then stab them into the tube. I timed it Monday, 2 minutes. Yeah, it's stupid. I am working on a combination flip tray/feeder tray and bench mount all-in-one.

The Lee version is absolute chit! Typical of Lee. 300 primers in, and it started crushing Fed-215M's ruining them. F**k Lee and I hope they go bankrupt like Remington producing chit over and over.

Yeah, that die broke on me too.

I'll stand at the lathe for 12 hours before I buy another single thing they produce.

Might as well be made in the chittiest chit hole of the globe as low as their quality is. Waste of money.
