Was digging around in the barn and found a set of four (4), dual adapters which will fit a 1948 jeep.
Father use to run duals front and rear with chains on his jeep to hunt in the marsh in Galveston county. Left side is left handed threads.
Anyone have any interest in them? I think the chains maybe with them. I even found the middle buster. My job was to carry the middle buster out and hook the winch cable to it when he got it stuck.

That's pretty cool to find those. Are they the old cast iron ones, with the big rods?? I had an older CJ2A years ago, which came with two of them for running in the sand and mud here in Idaho. There's a lot of old jeep restoration groups, so maybe put them on one of those web pages. I'm sure they are collectible.
I have a friend in Milwaukee who restores old military Jeeps, maybe I could email him. How much would you want for them??

I have no idea of what they are worth, would like an idea. I know there cannot be too many of them around, for a fair price I would like them to go to someone who could use them.
"Are they the old cast iron ones, with the big rods??" Not sure, do know that between the ends, there are flats so you can tighten them with a wrench onto the first wheel.
Hate to see someone in the future pitch them in a wash out for land fill.
Anyone know of any Jeep sites in Texas?

These are the old ones I was remembering, with the long rods to slide the hubs over. The picture is really dating me, as we used them in Hawaii in the 70's for all our beach racing. Me in the brown Land Cruiser!!

Pictures are very similar, if not exact.
Land Cruiser, have a 1974 with 16,674 miles on it, it's original and always been garage kept.

My buddy said there's a CJ2A Forum you could check, and maybe get more info. He will do some more checking for me. Let you know if I hear anything.

Thank you for the help.
Like I said, don't want them to go to waste if someone has a use for them.

Heard back from my friend, he spent a bunch of time with friends in various clubs, and came up with this. Said the original cost was cheap, so they sold a bunch of them. They are worth what you can get, but he thought a couple hundred dollars would be fair for both buyer/seller. All I got. Good luck with them.

I have a CJ3B that I am planning to restore, but 4 wheels and tires are expensive enough, I don't think I want the expense of 8.

One thing I remember is after coming out of the marsh, we would take the chains off each outside tire and go on to a dirt road to drive to a Farm To Market road. The mud would be stuck between each tire and the jeep would shake something terrible until the mud was slung out between the wheels. Talk about tires being out of balance.
I can only imagine trying to steer it with 4 wheels on the front, especially with not power steering.
