Yes sir, if you need any help and your close by let me know. It would probably be better if you bought a new gas tube and gas block and installed them together with the new barrel.

Yes, should be pretty straight forward and then use a .300 BLK mag

Thanks, I appreciate the offer for help, but I'm in Tennessee (don't tell anyone, lol). I joined the site for the .300 HAM'R knowledge. Just curious, If I purchase a brand new AR for the build will I still need to purchase an additional tube and block?

Thank you. I purchased several of the Lancer magazines when I purchased my WC tactical hunter and will use them interchangeably

Hey.

I just finish putting my rifle together and I’m having hard time finding ammo. I don’t reload so I’m dependent on shops availability. Are there any other ammo source besides WC? Or do I need to start learning and gathering reload equipment?

This is my new truck rifle so I don’t need any fancy hunting rounds or what ever. But I do need a few for practice and maintaining. I would hate to use hunting rounds on targets.

Check WC daily - more ammo will show up

Uh yes, I do. Was able to buy some fancy hunting rounds but really want FMJ rounds. They been back order for awhile now. I know they and pretty much every ammo producer are going as fast as possible. As you can see, I’m impatient.

Thanks,
Eugene

I was wondering why all the brick thrower parts were littering the classifieds. This a great decision Kylie clap

Hi everyone - and Bill!

I signed up just to post in this thread. I moved to Texas from England 3 years ago and decided to try hog hunting. I didn’t have any kind of rifle so did some research and got lucky that the 300 hamr was released around the time I purchased.

In my limited experience (killed 9 hogs with it so far) it has been excellent. I use the 130gr Speer hot cors and all hogs have dropped immediately except one which ran 20 yards (bad shot placement). Most of my shooting has been 50-100 yards.

When I eventually get access to regular hunting places (currently paying for weekend hunts which adds up in $) I will keep using it. I’d like to hunt deer with it soon.

Well done Bill! The rifle itself is excellent and the cartridge works great, it’s also nice to have access to ammo during these strange times.

One request: I’ve tried to make my own bdc charts, but is there a published bdc chart for each load? Sorry if I missed something. I did look at the website and didn’t see it. I’m interested in that for potential longer shots.

Welcome to the forum, TX, hog hunting and the HAM'R

I just run the ballistics on the calculator on the Hornady web site, it allows you to customize it to your desired zero and atmospheric conditions.

Quite a difference in gun culture from England to the Republic of Texas hu???

Thanks Bill!

Yes - huge difference in culture. I embraced all things shooting and firearms related, but my friends back home still think it is strange that I have an AR-15 in my house. I think partly they have a fear of the unknown and like anything, with proper safety training and knowledge of its uses, people can relax a little more. I certainly enjoy the freedom offered by this great state!

My first pistol was a 1911 (unfortunately not one of your masterpieces, although I am saving for that) and I’m waiting on my first suppressor to get out of jail - I jumped in with both feet!

Like everyone else in this thread, I’m currently looking at the next purchase. I have a 300 blk pistol I hurriedly purchased on election evening but I’m thinking it might be better suited to an 11.3inch 300 HAM’R so I’m eying those barrels right now!

Looking forward to taking more hogs with this cartridge. Thanks for keeping the ammunition flowing at reasonable prices!

Thanks for letting us know. I should have 2,000 on the way. They have a four box limit but during these times I completely understand.

I've been here before! Seems like shortages are happening more often so I was well stocked. The only thing I was getting low on was .30 caliber bullets.
But, that is just to keep loading, my stash of loaded rounds is enough to brag about!
cheers

I am looking at buying a new cheap AR carbine like a diamondback and installing an 11” .300 Ham’r barrel - if I purchase a Wilson gas block and tube which size gas block will I need and I assume just a regular tube (not straight)?
