Anyone have any luck with the Remington feeders?
I need to set up an extra, and they seem to be at a good price at Academy.

They are ok,once you remove some material around the hole in the bottom. But you should get with hoghunta on this site, he has some that IMO are better than the remington, and about the same price.

This will be my third year using them. I put solar panels on and they have not missed a beat.

I have 6 of them and they have run perfect for about 4 years now. I have had other brands, but like the Remington digital the best!!

Same hear, I think this is my fourth year to use, put you a good solar panel on it and you will be set up. I bought mine at Cabelas for $99 I think.

I have 3 of them, and all of them clog up. I pulled the timer unit down and removed the down spout and then cleaned up the opening. Now they work fine. But I got one from hoghunta, and it has the varmit guard feature for about the same price, and it is working much better than the remington feeders.

Thanks for the replies, because that is what I was concerned about, whether they held up or not!

Sorry, I didn't specify that I'm talking about the unit that Academy sells, and not the barrel, which they are a little light weight!

I have had one knocked over by me and my tractor once, and a hog knocked another one over 4 times, and rolled it all over and no damage to either one.

Mine are 3 years old, and one of them the timer has been on the ground a few times from the raccoons. I found it one day covered in mud, wiped it down and it still works. The hogs bent the timer housing a couple times, but I just pulled it back straight.

We had one for most of last season, the squirrels ate holes in the top. We converted to a 55 gallon drum and the Remington motor had a short. The sectional legs are a little flimsy. This one was not new. I would recommend going with a metal feeder. We have been using 5 gal Moultries for a couple of years. One of them has had the same 6 volt battery for over a year and still registers 100%.

I dont like them, we originally got 10 of them about 6 years ago and every time something goes wrong its terminal so were down to 2, West Texas Feeder supply makes the best timers in my opinion and they last for ever.
