BEAN STEW HELP!
I'm from Virginia, I married a Texas lady, and all has been well until this moment. She decided to make us a bean stew for dinner, and I kid you not she put carrots and chickpeas in it. I ate it, I ate the left overs after I mixed it with a can of HEB boracho beans, and honestly 10 days before V-day, I'm going to wait 2 weeks to say anything.
However, this is no bueno. I think I tasted every carrot and garbanzo bean in that stew.
I need some advice on how to take this over, smooth her feathers, and prepare a better TX bean stew.
I feel like bacon and salt needs to be part of it, pls recommend any recipes, ideas, and marital advice.

I have never in my life ever heard of a “bean stew”....
I’ve had lots of different styles of beans and beef stew with potatoes and carrots, but never beans and carrots....
What part of Texas is she from and where are her parents from?

Maybe something from the old country....
I wouldn’t wait just two weeks...No since in starting a fight unnecessarily...
I wouldn’t bring it up at all to her unless she offers to make it again....Then and only then would I let her know as gently and lovingly as humanly possible that you just didn’t much care for it....then tell her something that she makes that you really like....

Good advice, I ate a lot of things I did not like but we have reached an understanding more or less on some things.

Whelp, that's what she called it, i've only ever had baked beans. But i think the chickpeas were worse than the carrots, in any case, do y'all have a good texas recipe for beans that I could try to make that might distract from this.

We had bean stew that at get togethers it was called "hobo bean stew", everybody brought a can of beans, and everything was dumped into crockpots. Then we would add Rotel with chilis, any bean that was missing, salt and pepper and seasonings as needed. Hominy was also usually added, not for taste, but because they are cheap. Served with BBQ, and cornbread, lots of cornbread. The "Hobo Bean Stew" was cheap, and filling, and never the same.
Most times we would add some meat, usually somebody would bring some leftover brisket or other BBQ or smoked meat. The homeowner was responsible for peeling and having teh potatoes and carrots partially cook. We would play cards, pitch washers, drink beer and whatever was planned while the crockpots simmered and the flavors mixed.

Add some ground meat, ranch style beans, and hot rotel. Maybe even jalapenos.

Here is one, called
Train Wreck
2 1/2 - 3 lbs lean hamburger 2 medium onion diced 8-10 jalapenos seeded, stemmed, & diced 1 family sized can (3 regular sized cans) of Ranch Style beans or pinto beans 3 cans chopped green chilis with tomatoes (Rotel) 3 cans chopped green chilis ½ jar cactus (nopales) 1 can red enchilada sauce 1/2 bottle Louisiana Hot Sauce Directions *coat bottom of large pot with oil *add 1/2 onions & 1/2 jalapeños on medium heat & cook until onions become transparent *add hamburger until cooked (medium high heat) *add remaining ingredients using half of the bottle of Louisiana Hot Sauce (hot sauce to taste) *Stir well, reduce heat, cover, & simmer 90 minutes. **Note: if able, I may wait an hour before adding the cactus, so they don’t get slimy. *Serve with longhorn sharp cheddar cheese, warm tortillas or corn chips and enjoy with a cold Corona w/ Lime or Shiner.
