Just picked a 14” 6.8 Contender looking at suggested powders Accurate 1680/H4198/RL-10X, none are to be had. I do have Lil Gun/Accurate 2520 and a very small amount of IMR 3031. Does anyone know if these can be substituted. Thanx

You could always spend a few minutes checking the powder manufacturer's website for data instead of asking us to do it for you. I don't think the word "substitute" should be in a hand loader's lexicon.

I'll take another path here. Loaddata.com has aggregate information from a number of sources. You have to pay to see the exact recipe, but I often use the site to find likely powders and then find the details on my own.
This example is for 110 grain Noslers.

Okay Mr Thesaurus what word would you use? Replacement? Option? Instead of? Please enlighten me
And its not like I didnt check manufactures charts
Im looking for someone who has experience with Contender loads since even factory loads push limits; not some sideline commentators
Thank you to those who did reply but I believe those are based on AR rounds

Some very good information on reading pressure for the Contender in this link. http://www.lasc.us/BellmMaxPressureContender.htm pay particular attention to the part about using the dual firing pin port and reading pressure and reading it on the primer. In My contenders if you go to the point he says is time to back off you are over pressure for your gun. I saw easily what they are discussing there with a load I worked up in December and shot one in July with a now discontinued RL powder. Took some beating and banging on it to get it open.

I have never loaded for the 6.8 in anything but have loaded for the Contender in quite a few different cartridges. The part about it is easier to read the pressure indications on the primer is true for large rifle primed cases especially and if I were trying to get into loading the 6.8 in the Contender I would look for some of the cases that use Large rifle primers if they are available.

Mainstream news might be fun to watch

I don't know anything about a Contender, but I have loaded a lot for the AR's. There is a lot of loading information on 68forums, but it is for AR's or bolt guns mostly. There may be a few guys on there shooting Contenders if you ask around. Large rifle primers are only found in Remington and PPU brass if that's what you want for your gun. Graf and Son had some PPU brass available as recently as last week and may still have some.
