I currently co-own a financial advisory firm that works primarily with municipal utility districts and small cities. Co-own Map My Ranch - producing maps of all types for folks across the country. Own a publishing company that has focused on materials about Indigenous Elders and Native American Indians - ran it with my good friend and mentor, Harvey Arden, who worked for National Geographic as an Editor and Writer for 23yrs in the 70’s - 90’s. He had a few beat sellers in this genre. He passed a couple years back, but I keep it going with some projects and our past books/recordings. Currently working on a book about Bob Lemmons, a former slave turned wild mustanger, here in Texas. My family ranched with him back in the day and took care of him when his eyesight started failing. Wore a bunch of other hats before...I toured as a musician for about 10 years, have been a professional videographer/editor (commercials, shorts, TV show), computer technician, Multimedia Manager for a marketing firm, certified high school English teacher, graphic and web designer, and a bunch of other miscellaneous jobs. Love working on various projects. Have a new product that my BIL and I plan to announce soon, that should be a good fit with THFers. PS - this is a really cool thread! Thanks to the OP for starting it and for everyone that has contributed. As always, a special thanks to all LEOs, first responders and those that have fought for our freedoms. I salute you all!

Very cool Blitch. What do you play, and what kind of music?
I’m primarily a drummer. I also play guitar and sing and MC. I’ve played all sorts of music - favorite is rock, both older classic and the grunge era. Have done some heavier industrial rock type stuff also. I have been in some rock/blues bands, but toured mainly as a live electronic act. Kind of a Prodigy/Chemical Brothers/Pendulum sound, but with live instrumentation. We were a live band playing in what is usually a DJ dominated set up. Kinda fell into it. Definitely different genre than I had planned to be playing in, but we got a huge following shortly after playing some gigs and we ran with it until I hung up my touring boots when I got married and became an instant dad with my step daughter. Nowadays I play with my good buddies - rock stuff mainly: Hendrix, Nirvana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Helmet, Foo Fighters, and similar type sounds with our original tunes. Here some examples of our live electronic act, called Dead P.A. - which we named as a joke, since the technical term for our music was Live P.A. (Live programmable audio - where you recreate your electronic music, live). Our first gig we opened for a Dita Von Teese burlesque show in a side room. She liked what we sounded like and requested us to move to the main area and play right before she performed. We got a huge buzz from that gig and we were kinda stuck with our name after that! It was not the kinda music I planned on performing and touring with, but it was fun. Will try to find some of the rock stuff, and upload...maybe share in an off topic post

I'm a drummer also, have also been in all sorts of bands and played in a number of different genre's. Was in a punk rock band and got signed to an indi-label, toured for a bit. We have a lot in common on the rock stuff. I'm just learning to play the guitar. It's been a while since I've picked up the sticks as well.....I do miss it.

Very cool! What was your punk band called? Got any recordings? Good luck with the guitar! Much easier to pull out and play than the drums!

The sound was kind of a mix of Green Day/Rancid/NOFX/Nirvana/Helmet. More of an alternative punk/grunge sound. I don't have any video recordings, just audio. We were scheduled to open up for Social Distortion but our bass player (my best friend) was killed in a rollover accident right before, and I left the band after that. We were just getting started really. It was fun while it lasted though. I need to get more serious learning the guitar lol.

I’m still a big Social D fan, still listen to them all the time cranked up loud! Used to cover quite a few Social D and Ramones tunes. Good stuff. Country music (real country music) is my soul, but I got tired of drumming in country bands. Kept falling asleep lol. As far as drumming, I need me some rock. I am focused on country though learning the guitar.

Left small town life to go to school in Big D and worked part time in a bar(and grill?) while going through school. Right place right time I guess and the 3 little dives added other concepts and they begged me to work full time. The company kept tweaking concepts and grew very fast. Worked my way up and 10 years later we had 30 or so very successful full service restaurant/bars and I was VP Operations for the last several years. Original owners sold out for 50 or so Million and I opened my own restaurant and ran it for many years. Sold it and planned to semi retire but got into kind of a second career before retiring not long ago. Ive always been kind of a workaholic so that carried over into my obsession with deer hunting and managing leases. I havent slowed down any, except when I get on this forum. Im a goal oriented doer and I feel I waste my time on here(but I enjoy and I learn so I guess Im going forward.)
At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR Keep your gratitude higher than your expectations. RWH
