Explaining this to my wife in a way anyone can understand. Correct me if I am wrong here.

Short positions made up an impossible 140% of GameStop’s float aka available shares for trading. Those big hedge funds had got together with short contracts further driving the price down. It's what they do. They messed with a bunch of reddit gamers this time who are cult investors in gamestop. The reddit users get together to buy as much stock as possible and pump it to others. Then pump those buyers to hold until the short contracts expire and set the sell limit orders over $1000 or higher. More buyers than sellers drives the price up. When those short contracts expire, the hedge funds will end up having to buy the available shares at any available price and it will bankrupt them.

It is not that we are ok with it. I am down 0 .78% today but up 5.62% for the month. Down days are going to happen. The euphoria of the up days never equals the anxiety of the down days. As far as the little guys vs big guys.....the way I see it....the big guys got way too greedy shorting stock and the little guys slapped their arses.

You guys made it crystal clear to me.

The big push about all this in the beginning was the hedge fund people manipulateing the stock market. Thats a far cry from manipulation of a particular company.

So you think this is a one time deal? Seriously?

After the events this past summer, how can anyone be expected to worry about staying inside the lines.

Seriously I doubt hedge funds will put themselves in this situation again. GME shows a last Short Interest % of float 121.91% of available shares. AMC the other one in the news lately only shows 42.11% of float and similar for the other stocks being pumped on reddit. SO AMC and the others really can't be short squeezed in the same way as GME can due to a of a lack of shares. Those stocks are just being pump and dumped taking advantage of the hype with the GME situation. A lot of those small buyers on the others being pumped are going to be stuck with bag holdings if they don't dump them while they can. I am sure a lot of big traders took advantage of the pump on Thursday and took profit before the end of trading today.

They shorted120% of available shares..... and got caught in a very bent over position. They tried to blow it out and instead they might go under. It’s that simple.

Improve your damn company and you wont have to worry about short-sellers,they'll go away. If you have a lousy business model,crummy products,poor customer service,etc your company's stock wont get shorted.Simple as that.

Do you know what game stop is?

Yeah it's the video game version of Blockbuster Video.

Do you know anything about their actual health? I think not.

I haven't investigated,how much do you know about it? Those hedge funds who shorted it obviously think Game Stop is in poor health or they wouldn't have shorted it.

I know more than you. The company is still healthy. They were targeted by the hedge funds who used the media to run them down for profit. Educate yourself before you take a side.

If I had to take a WAG as to why Game Stop is being shorted maybe they think that whole concept of a brick and mortar store where you buy or rent video games will become archaic and go the way of the dinosaur. Remember when Netflix came onto the scene and you had to wait in the "queue" for a movie to be available,then they would mail it to you in the little red square envelope? That system soon went the way of the dinosaur.

Dude the company has spent its entire existence trading between $5 and $30. And that's generous IMO. GME has had more than enough chances.
