While not a real popular round the 270 Weatherby shoot's circles around the WSM and the Western and was doing it back in the 40's.

Not really. At 500 yds the 6.8 has 4” less drift and more energy than the 140gr WBY load and a lot less punishment to the person behind the rifle.

What loads are you talking about, are we talking the same bullet?

I compared the heaviest 6.8 factory load to the heaviest load Midway offered for the Weatherby.

Hard comparisons, 6.8 western rifles aren’t standard twist, from what I read,

Finally we will start seeing legit high BC .27 bullets going forward.

I personally think Browning and Winchester did it right this go

Weatherby shows a 150 grain load at close to 3250 and I've got a 170 grain load that pushes 3,000. The true comparison would be running the same bullet through both rifles. As Bobo said with the addition of heavier better designed bullet available for the 270 the Weatherby might get a new life, maybe a 1-8 twist.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I was looking at adding a Winchester 1885 in the 6.5 PRC, but nothing available to shoot it... So I think I'll wait awhile!
