More jobs for Texas Samsung Considers $10 Billion Texas Chipmaking Plant, Sources SayThe world’s largest memory chip and smartphone maker is in discussions to locate a facility in Austin, Texas, capable of fabricating chips as advanced as 3 nanometers in the future, people familiar with the matter said. Plans are preliminary and subject to change but for now the aim is to kick off construction this year, install major equipment from 2022, then begin operations as early as 2023, they said. While the investment amount could fluctuate, Samsung’s plans would mean upwards of $10 billion to bankroll the project, one of the people said. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...nsider-10-billion-texas-chipmaking-plant

Alot of overseas MFG’ing took serious note of the US/China trade escalations. It's going to continue until the Dems fire up EPA to price them out. Texas is very combative with EPA so obviously a top choice, especially with limited unions

Samsung already has a Fab in Austin. FIFY Yep, I've been working out there on and off for 20+ years.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Samsung already has a lab in Austin. It's growing But not like this, having a foundry in the US to compete with Taiwan would be monumental. Locating it in Texas is even better.

Those are both tough talent pools though. If they ever fix that, we would loose a bunch to them

I’d just as soon they stay there and fix the mess they created rather than just bring it here....

I remember way back in the dark ages when we measured things in microns. I even have some 4 inch wafers around here somewhere. For the non-scientific folks, a human hair is about 100 microns thick. 1 micron is 1000 nanometers.
