For those of you that got the china surprise and lost taste and smell, how many of you regained it after 14 days? I am at about 10% regained, coffee is still just hot water. I'm at day 26 now since I lost it.

Oddly enough you may not get all of it back. It took my wife about 6 months.

My taste is lsowly coming back, and sweet was better before savory and salty. I had a boudin kolache the other day and had no idea I was eating sausage at all, no flavor, but my wife said it was good and flavorful....seems to me some flavors just aren't there while others are mostly back
However, my sh*t still does not stink. I am a month out and can barely smell anything, maybe 5% and most things I can not tell there is any smell at all. My initial symptoms were only a mildly runny nose, and then the loss of smell and taste, and thats all I ever had....
I really hope my smell comes back at some point. I kinda like being able to smell. If my taste is where its gonna be I would be OK with that. it isn't perfect but I can taste ice cream, chocolate and sweets...I am good there.

Im pretty clueless on the symptoms etc on this thing. I had no idea the taste smell thing could hang on that long. Only one I know personally that lost taste smell had almost no other symptoms and got it back within a week. Does anybody know if you go without taste smell for a long time it theres a chance there are underlying conditions that are still lingering?

FR, no one really knows. The lingering taste and smell issues seem to have nothing to do with contagiousness, that seems to go away for most within the first 6-7 days.
However, there is much about this we are still learning.

Out of curiosity, how many of you with taste/smell loss ended up losing weight? Seems like appetite would be affected by that significantly

No offense, but somehow I found this line really pretty funny.... Well, not to get into TMI zone here, but I lost mine smell for a couple of weeks then it starting coming back. For almost two months I couldn't smell anything rotten. And yes, that goes for But I could smell everything else. I considered it the one bonus of the Kung Flu. Then this week I can now smell BO. It's all the way back now.

The smell and taste is only an inconvenience. Too many reports of heart and lung issue side effects to say ."I want this stuff so I am immune"..

The smell and taste is only an inconvenience. Too many reports of heart and lung issue side effects to say ."I want this stuff so I am immune".. That's the right perspective DC. My whole family got it, and we are all thankful that the "version" we got didn't land us in the hospital or the heart/lung damage. @LarryCopper, same thing. Foul type odors are gone. Coffee is gone. Other odors are barely discernible just like taste. My wife's friend contracted it last week. She just went on the ventilator. If anyone can lift a prayer for Sylvia, please do. She is not in a good place right now.

I don't think I lost either, but I slept for 90% of the first three or four days. But, since I've been better and able to work I notice that I get short of breath very easily. Part of that though is we have to wear N-95's and a paper surgical mask. You end up breathing the moist Co2 air you just exhaled.

I haven't lost any weight or my appetite. I'm still eating I guess because I know what the food suppose to taste like.
