Hats off to TPWD crew at the Powderhorn WMA this morning. There were 114 of us standby’s, drawing 6 positions for the last GDE of the year at this location. Dan’s group made the process very smooth, even with this many people applying for standby hunting opportunity. Good luck to the six that were chosen, maybe next year for me.

It's also pretty darn close to San Antonio and Houston, plus from the pics they post of the hunts they have nice animals to take out there.

Heck, there were 96 people for just 1 card chosen for standby at the gun deer either sex hunt on the Chaparral WMA this past season. That parking lot was packed up as well as the road leading into the Chap that day. Unbelievable that there are that many people for standby in the middle of the week.

Still waiting on a chance for Chaparral WMA myself, this years successful deer harvest photos from the Chap are amazing! (Gross non-typical: 166 5/8 Age: 5.5), not many private lands that will yield this type of monster.
